Art institute director to speak tonight
The Plymouth Arts and Recreation
Complex (PARC) will host a special pres-
entation by Detroit Institute of Arts
Director Salvador Salort-Pons from 6-7:30
tonight, July 20.
Salort-Pons will discuss his vision for
the museum, explore some of his favorite
works of art, and answer questions about
theDIA. This event is free and open to the
public.
The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with
entertainment provided by the Michigan
Philharmonic. There will be complimen-
tary light appetizers andbeverages.

GrubCrawl tickets on sale
Tickets are now on sale for the 12th
Annual Northville Grub Crawl planned
for 6-9:30 p.m. July 25.
Participating Northville restaurants
will offer samples of appetizers and
entrée items along with cash bar specials
for the event. Ticket holders can use free
shuttle transportation to each restaurant
or "crawl "on their own. Restaurants par-
ticipating the year include: Aubree's of
Northville, Brann's Sizzlin' Steaks &
Sports Grill, Brick's of Northville,
Browndog Treats, Drink's & Eats, Garage
Grill & Fuel Bar, Northville Winery &

Birthday celebration planned
Celebrations of the 150th anniversary
of the City of Plymouth this year have
already included various festivities
throughout the community but the biggest
city birthday party will take place July 26
at thePlymouthHistoricalMuseum.
Tickets to the event, planned for 6-8
p.m. are priced at $25 per person and
include food, wine, a great exhibit and a
raffle for a diamond necklace valued at
$10,000.
The party, where the necklace will be
raffled, will include visits from re-enac-
tors posing as past residents of Plymouth,
like the first woman mayor, Ruth
Whipple, andGeorge Starkweather of Old
Village.

Farmersmarket nowopen
The Canton Farmers Market will be
open from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. every
Sunday through Oct. 12 at Preservation
Park, located at 500 N. Ridge Road,
Canton.
This open-air-market features a variety
of Michigan grown and made food as well
as hand-crafted items. The Farmers
Market will take place rain or shine.

Community Band sets concerts
The Belleville Community Band will
perform a second summer concert this
year at Belleville First United Methodist
Church.
The free concert is set for 3 p.m. July
30.

StandUpSummer Camp set
A camp for empowering young people
to find their voice featuring art, music and
poetry will take place through July 28 at
HolyRedeemer Church.
The camp is open to students in first
through sixth grades living in Belleville.
The cost is $5 perweek or $25 for the sum-
mer. Older youths are being sought as vol-
unteer junior leasers.
The camp will take place from 10 a.m.
until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
Lunch and snackswill be provided.
Adult volunteers are needed and regis-
tration is on a first come basis.

WoundedWarrior leads yoga class
A special fundraiser for the Wounded
Warrior Project is planned in Canton
Township.
Old Glory Flags and Flagpoles of
Canton andCantonLeisure Services have
joined forces to host "Yoga in the Park"
with Dan Nevins at 9 a.m. Saturday, July
22.
The benefit for the Wounded Warrior
Project is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and
will take place in Heritage Park, located
behind the Canton Administration
Building,1150 S. Canton Center Road.
Participants are asked to arrive by 8:30
a.m. for event day check-in or registration.
All proceeds from this event will go to
benefit Wounded Warrior Project. Tickets

Rally onRidge planned
More than 20 food trucks are expected
to join the face painters, bouncers, games
and children's activities along with live
music July 25 at PreservationPark.
The 4thAnnual Rally onRidge, a bene-
fit tor the Canton Farmers Market, will
take place from5:30 until 9 p.m.
Those who attend and plan to stay for
the live acoustic music are encouraged to
bring along lawn chairs or picnic blan-
kets.
This year, the Rally on Ridge main
event sponsor is Toll Brothers. In addi-
tion, The Regner Team of Edward Jones,
Financial Advisor, is sponsoring the enter-
tainment. Additional sponsorship support

Senior's Day at market
The Westland Farmers and Artisans
Market will welcome senior citizens for
some special activities during Senior's
Day from3-7 p.m. Aug. 10.
Along with more than 30 vendors and
artisans, there will be special veteran's
health and fitness exercises and local
experts on nutrition. The Market Bounty
Raffle will award one lucky senior a bas-
ket full of market goodies donated by ven-
dors. The market takes place at 1901 N.
Carlson, south of Ford Road in Central
City Park. Vendorswill be selling produce,
plants, fresh foods and crafts. There is
live music every week and EBT cards are
accepted.

The Inkster Legends Basketball
Camp is seeking information about for-
mer students andplayers.
President/Director of Inkster
Legends Fred Smiley said the group is
hoping to list former campers and the
universities they attended on an alumni
page on the Legends website.
Information about whether the basket-
ball camp alumni played basketball at
their respective colleges. Smiley said
the page would also contain photos of
