Saturday park programunder way
The Saturday in the Park program is
now under way throughout a 6-mile
stretch of Hines Drive. Visitors will have
the opportunity to enjoy their favorite
activities in a vehicle-free environment
from9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
The program will remain in effect
until Sept. 26.
"Providing recreational activities in a
safe environment is a priority of Wayne
County Parks," said Wayne County
Executive Warren Evans. "Saturday in
the Park is a great way for families to
enjoy biking, running and walking with-
out road traffic."
Parking is available at the Hines
Park-Helms Haven Area (Hines Drive,
west of Outer Drive) and Hines Park-
Nankin Mills Picnic Area (Hines Drive,
east of AnnArbor Trail).

PARCoffers swimprogram
Registration is now under way for a
swim program at Central Middle School
in downtown Plymouth offered by The
Plymouth Arts and Recreation Complex
which will assume management of the
facility and continue to offer the swim
program.
There will be more classes offered
due to expanded available pool time.
Session 1 Swim Program registra-
tions will take place through June 19 at
the City of Plymouth Recreation Office
during front counter hours, noon until
4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and
online.
To register online you must have a
City of Plymouth recreation issued user-
name and password; for first time users
this can be set-up by the recreation

Library has summer hours
The Inkster Public Library now has
new summer hours and is now open
from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturdays
and from10 a.m. until 8 p.m. onTuesday,
and from noon until 8 p.m. on
Wednesdays.
The library will be closed Fridays,
Sundays andMondays.
The library is located at 2005 Inkster
Road in Inkster.

Senator hosts constituents
State Sen. Patrick Colbeck and
District Manager Penny Crider will hold
monthly office hours from 6-7 p.m. June
8 at the Plymouth Library, 223 Main St.
Plymouth.
Colbeck will be on hand to answer
questions and respond to concerns any
residents of his district may have. No
appointment is necessary.
Colbeck represents the 7th Senate
District, which encompasses the cities of
Livonia, Northville, Plymouth and
Wayne, as well as the townships of
Canton, Northville andPlymouth.

Book club tomeet
The Second Monday Book Club will
meet at 7 p.m. June 8 at 7 p.m. at the
Romulus Public Library for a book dis-
cussion of Sharp Objects by Gillian
Flynn. Book discussions are free and
open to all, ages 18 andup.

Photographers tomeet
Members of the only 3D photography
club in Michigan will meet from 7-9:30
p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at the Livonia
Civic Park Senior Center, 15218
Farmington Road, just south of Five
MileRoad.
This will be the final meeting of the
2014-15 season, and will feature a pres-
entation of the best 3D images made by
members this year. After a refreshment
break, the annual awards will be pre-
sented.
The new 2015-16 season will begin
Sept. 9.

Summer soiree set
The Belleville Community Arts
Council will host the Summer Soiree
from 7 p.m. until midnight, Friday, June
12, at theBYC
Details of this event which replaces
the Garden Soiree, include delectable
hors d'oeuvres as well as cocktails. This
year will feature two very different
musical presentations with a more
Island flair early in the evening leading
into a jazzier performance later on.
RomulusNight at Comerica set
Tickets are now on sale for Romulus
Night at Comerica Park, planned for
Wednesday, Aug. 4.
The $65 ticket includes a bus ride and
refreshments to and from Comerica
Park and a buffet of hot dogs, hamburg-
ers, cole slaw, pasta salad, baked beans,
chips and soft drinks.
The Tigers will play the Minnesota
Twins beginning at 7:08 p.m.
The bus will leave Romulus City Hall
at 5 p.m. and check in will begin at 4:30
p.m.

ShredDay in Plymouth set
The City of Plymouth will host the
2nd Annual Community ShredDay from
9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, June 13 at
city hall.
ShredLegal and the citywill offer the
free service to residents who can bring
up to 100 pounds or three banker boxes
of confidential documents to be securely
destroyed.
The shreddedmaterial will be part of
a recycling program and will be baled
and sent to paper mills to be converted
into reusable material. Recycling one
ton of paper will save 17 trees from
being cut down, 380 gallons of fuel
oil,7000 gallons of water and 4000 kilo-
watt hours of energy
Photo identificationwill be requested
proving residency in the City of
Plymouth.
Residents who have more than three
banker-box sized boxes to destroy
should bring the material in install-
ments so no one resident is monopoliz-
ing theuse of the truck.

KonaRun inNorthville
The 13th Annual Kona Run is
planned for Saturday, June 13, in
Northville. Presented by St. Mary Mercy
Livonia, the event includes a 10 Mile,
10K, 5K Run/Walk, Maui Mile, and new
this year, a 10-mile two-person relay.
Registrants receive a tech shirt and
there will be live music, Hawaiian
dancers, a LuauParty at the finish, great
food, beverages and more,including
samples of Guernsey ice cream.
Net proceeds from this event will
benefit:Northville
Educational
Foundation;Northville Parks and
Recreation;Barbara Ann Karmanos
Cancer Institute;University of Michigan
C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and

Summer DayCamp offered
Summer Day Camp will take place
held at the Wayne Community Center
June 16-Aug. 21 for ages 7-12.
There will be field trips, camp shirts,
arts and crafts, and many other activi-
