Bus service available
Inkster residents who want to take part
in programs at the Dozier Recreation
Complex in the city now have a shuttle bus
available for transportation.
The Inkster Commission on Aging offers
the service which can be requested by

The service is available to all senior citi-
zenswho reside in Inkster.
Genealogyworkshops offered
The Belleville Area District Library will
offer genealogy workshops, Tracing Your
Roots, at 7 p.m. everyWednesday inApril.
Local history and genealogy research
expert Ginger Bruder will guide partici-
pants through strategies and resources
available to develop a record of family his-
tories. The final class will feature a lecture
by Mark Bowden, the librarian in charge of
local history collections at the Detroit
PublicLibrary.

Northville exhibit opens
The Northville Art House will exhibit
IMPRINT: A Kate Paul Retrospective, fea-
turing more than 50 works, including paint-
ings, etchings, sketches, sculptures, and
prose by Livonia artist Kate Paul. The exhi-
bition opens with a reception from 6-9 p.m.
Friday, April 7, with gallery talk at 7 p.m.
The exhibit will continue through
Saturday, April 29, during Art House hours,
noon until 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday
andnoonuntil 4 p.m. onSaturdays.

Bowling fundraiser planned
The Belleville Area Chamber of
Commerce and the Van Buren Public
Schools Education Foundation have
planned an evening of bowling to generate
funds beginning at 8 p.m. April 7 at Lodge
Lanes, 46255 I-94 ServiceDr. inBelleville.
The entry fee is $20 per person which
includes three games of bowling, shoe
rental and pizza. Registration will begin at
7 p.m.
The evening will include a 50/50 draw-
ings, prizes and raffles. A cash bar will be
available.

The Romulus Citizens Academy Alumni
Association in partnership with the City of
Romulus Police, Fire & Safety Commission
will host the 2017 Hometown Hero Awards
Friday, April 28, and nominations for the
awardswill be accepteduntil April 7.
Nominations are being sought in the fol-
lowing categories: Outstanding Educator,
Survivor,
Courage,
Outstanding
Citizen/Group and Veteran. Residents are
encouraged to pick up in-person or down-

St. John's Episcopal Church will host a
Spring Bazaar from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The Steve Morse One-Step website and
a presentation about historical Woodmere
Cemetery in Detroit will be topics at the
next meeting of the Northville
Genealogical Society from 1:15 until 4:30
p.m. April 9 at the Northville District
Library.

The roundtable "Steve Morse One-Step"

Woodmere Cemetery since 2003, assisting
others who are researching their family

Officials plan coffee hour
Wayne County Commissioner Glenn S.
Anderson will be hosting a coffee hour in

Dan Grajek, the author of The Last

Members of the only 3D photography
club in Michigan will meet from 7-9:30 p.m.
Wednesday, April 12, at the Livonia Civic
Park Senior Center, 15218 Farmington
Road, just south of FiveMileRoad.
The meeting will feature a presentation
on "Stereoscopic Optical Illusions" by Jay
Horowitz,a former NASA scientist who spe-
cialized in visualization and virtual reality.
The meeting will conclude with the month-
ly club 3D image competition.

Drugs 101 classes set
St. Joseph Mercy Health System will
present Drugs 101: What Parents Want to
Know from 6:30-8:30 p.m. April 17 at
Hillside Middle School, 775 North Center
Road inNorthville.
The class is sponsored by the Northville
Public Schools and a grant from Ford
Motor Co. The classes are for adults only.

The program will explain the signs,
symptoms and current trends in teen drug
use and include a mock teen's bedroom set
