NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Michigan Public Act 110 of 2006, of the State of Michigan, as amended, and pursuant to the
Zoning Ordinance of the Charter Township of Canton that the Planning Commission of the Charter Township of Canton will hold a
Public Hearing on Monday, April 7, 2014, in the
First Floor Meeting Room of the Canton Township Administration Building, 1150 S.

A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Charter Township of Canton was held Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 1150 Canton Center
S., Canton, Michigan. Supervisor LaJoy called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Roll Call:
Members Present: Anthony, Bennett, LaJoy, McLaughlin, Sneideman, Williams, Yack. Members Absent: None; Staff Present: Director
Bilbrey-Honsowetz, Director Trumbull, Director Faas.
Adoption of Agenda:
Motion by Bennett, supported by Anthony to approve the
agenda as presented. Motion carried by all members present.
Approval of Minutes
: Motion by Bennett, supported by McLaughlin to
approve the Study Minutes of February 18, 2014 as presented. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Bennett, supported by Williams
to approve the Board Minutes of February 25, 2014 as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Citizen’s Non-Agenda Item Comments:
George Miller, 1946 Briarfield, questioned possible improved parking at Basement Burger. Mr. Miller questioned the cold patch being
done on Geddes Road. Senator Patrick Colbeck updated the board on issues currently before the Michigan Senate.
Payment of Bills:
Motion by McLaughlin, supported by Sneideman to approve payment of the bills as presented. Motion carried unanimously.

supported by McLaughlin to set the Public Hearing date for April 8. 2014 to consider the application of Canton Burger Inc, DBA: Bagger
Dave’s Burger Tavern located at 2243 North Canton Center Road, Canton, Wayne County, Michigan, 48187 for a new “Class C” on-
premise liquor license.
Item C-4. CONSIDER AUTHORIZATION OF THE PURCHASE OF SOFTBALLS FOR CANTON
SPORTS CENTER (LSD)
Motion by Bennett, supported by McLaughlin to authorize the purchase of league softballs not to exceed
320 dozen 12” softballs from Worth Sports, 1915 Wendell, Lima, OH 45805 in an amount not to exceed $9,990.40 with the expense
charged to Canton Sports Center budget – Operating Supplies #101-755-50.740. Motion carried unanimously.

AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR PORTABLE TOILETS (LSD)
Motion by Bennett, supported by McLaughlin to award the contract
for portable toilets for the 2014 thru 2016 seasons to John’s Sanitation, Inc. of 24700 Milford Road, South Lyon, MI 48178 in the amount
of $8,217.50 annually, to be taken from the following accounts: $7,297.50 from account #101-270-50.801_0050 (Park Contracted
Services) $ 920.00 from account #584-756-57.801_0050 (Ground Maint Contracted Services Motion carried unanimously.

SET PUBLIC HEARING DATE FOR GREENFIELD DIE & MANUFACTURING CORPORATION INDUSTRIAL FACILI-
TIES EXEMPTION CERTIFICATE. (SUPV)
Motion by Bennett, supported by McLaughlin to set the public hearing for May 13,
2014, to consider the Industrial Facilities Exemption application of Greenfield Die & Manufacturing Corporation for new personal prop-
erty at their facility located at 7295 Haggerty Road. Motion passes unanimously.
GENERAL CALENDAR: Item G-1. CONSIDER
PAYMENT OF ANNUAL GIS SOFTWARE MAINTENANCE FEES TO ESRI (ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS RESEARCH
INSTITUTE, INC.) (MSD)
Motion by Bennett, supported by Williams to authorize the payment to ESRI for Maintenance and Support
from March 2014 to March 2015, for a total cost not-to-exceed of $25,700. Funds are available in the 2014 Budget in the accounts spec-
ified. Motion carried unanimously.
Item G-2 CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A CHANGE ORDER FOR ABANDONMENT AND
REMOVAL OFAN EXISTING SANITARY FORCE MAIN ASSOCIATED WITH THE WARREN-LOTZ SANITARY SEWER
DIVERSION PROJECT TO STANTE EXCAVATING INCORPORATED. (MSD)
Motion by Bennett, supported by McLaughlin
to approve a change order on the Phase 3 Relief Sewer Project to Stante Excavating Incorporated for an amount of $88,400 plus a 10%
contingency of $8,800 for a total cost of $97,200, to perform the force main abandonment work as part of the Warren-Lotz Sanitary
Sewer Diversion Project. Motion carried unanimously.
Item G-3 CONSIDER AUTHORIZATION OFA BUDGET AMENDMENT
FOR THE MICHIGAN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (MEDC) URBAN FARMERS MARKET GRANT
AGREEMENT. (LSD)
Motion by Bennett, supported by McLaughlin to approve the following budget amendment: Increase to
Revenues:101-691-49.539 State Grants $10,572 Increase in Expenses: 101-691-49.742 Program Activity Supplies $ 7,472; 101-691-
49.801_0050 Contracted Services $ 3,100. Motion carried unanimously.
OTHER:
Supervisor LaJoy commented on the positive impres-
sion left on the community by the Olympic Gold Medalist Ice Dancers - Davis and White; Chamber Auction will be held on Saturday
March 15 from 6:30 pm - 11:30 pm.; The Canton Township Board of Trustees Study Session on Tuesday March 18 will be on
Water/Sewer Rates.

"NOTICE TO CUT NOXIOUS WEEDS"
CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF CANTON
TO THE OWNER OR OCCUPANT OR ANY PERSON OR PERSONS, FIRM OR CORPORATION HAVING CHARGE OF ANY
LAND IN THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF CANTON:
Notice is hereby given that all noxious weeds growing on any land in the Charter Township of Canton, Wayne County, Michigan must
be cut and destroyed on or before the first day of May, the first day of June, the first day of July, the first day of August, and the first
day of September in each year and/or as needed and as often as may be necessary to prevent same from going to seed. Any owner, occu-
pant, or person having charge of any such land must notify the Township that such weeds have been destroyed within three (3) days of
such cutting. Any person failing to comply with this notice shall be liable to the imposition of the penalties set forth in Noxious Weed
Ordinance, Chapter 34, Article III of the Code of Ordinances of the Charter Township of Canton, Wayne County, Michigan and shall be
liable for all expenses incurred by the Township in destroying said noxious weeds, which expenses, if unpaid by the Owner or occupant,
shall be spread against the property on the next County and State tax roll or the next general Township tax roll and/or place a lien upon
the property to secure the collection of such expense. The Township of Canton may notify by certified mail with return receipt request-
ed, the owner, agent or occupant as shown on the current County and School tax roll, of any lands on which said noxious weeds are
found growing. Such notice shall contain a summary of the provisions of this section of the Ordinance. Failure of the Township to give
such notice shall not, however, constitute a defense to any action to enforce the payment of any penalty provided herein or any debt cre-
ated hereunder.

Free income tax help offered at area locations
Council OK’s reappointments
Wayne County is offering free
tax services for those with an
annual household income of less
than $50,000 at several locations
in the area.
The service will be provided
from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. every
Wednesday at the Wayne County
Library for the Blind and
Physically Handicap, 30555

throughApril 2.
Appointments are served first
but walk-ins re accepted. Tomake

InWestland, the service will be
available from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
at the Wayne Metro Dorsey
Center, 32715 Dorsey on Feb. 18
and again onFeb. 25.
The Wayne Public Library at
3737 S. Wayne Road will offer the
tax services from 11 a.m. until 5
p.m. onMarch 25.
In Inkster, there are tax sites
offering free tax preparation serv-
ices from other organization.
Those include Dartmouth Square
Apartments, 26382 Colgate which
will offer the services from10 a.m.
until 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and
Thursdays through April. To
make an appointment or for more
information about necessary

St. Clements Episcopal
Church, 4300 Harrison in Inkster,
will offer the tax services from 6
p.m. until 9 p.m. on Mondays and
Wednesday. To make an appoint-

New Birth Baptist Church at
27628 Avondale in Inkster will
also offer free tax preparation
from 6-9 p.m. on Thursdays. For
an appointment, call (313) 378-

Social Security cards for the
filer and all claimed dependents
along with a valid photo identifi-
cation should be provided along
with proof of income of all types
and proof of expenses.
Homeowners should bring proof
of taxable value of their home and
bills for summer and winter prop-
erty taxes paid in 2013 along with
mortgage interest forms.
Renters need to supply the
lease or rental contract and rent
receipts for 2013 and the land-
lord's name and address and zip
code.
Filers should also bring along a
copy of their last year's federal
and state tax returns.

Arnold Shapero and Margaret Harlow
have been reappointed to the Westland
DowntownDevelopment Authority (DDA).
The reappointments, made by Mayor
WilliamWild, were confirmed at the regular
meeting of the city council earlier this
month.
BothHarlowand Shapero have served on
the DDA since 1998. Their terms were
renewed for four years. Harlow will contin-
ue to serve as the DDA chairperson, a posi-
tionwhich sheheldpreviously.
“Mr. Shapero and Ms. Harlow have been
great assets on the Downtown Development
Authority, and I look forward to their contin-
ued success at enhancing Westland business
and economic development,” said Wild.
“The DDA does great work for the city, and I
am happy that both of them will continue
their service.”
Chamber to host annual mixer
Mom Prom to benefit Goodfellows
The 15th Annual Business Community
Networking Mixer is planned for 6-8 p.m.
March 25 at Inkster ValleyGolf Course.
The annual event is sponsored by the
Inkster Chamber of Commerce and will
includemusic and a deluxe buffet dinner.
Tickets for chamber members are $20
andnon-member tickets are $25.
The evening offers an opportunity to
network with city wide and area busi-
nesses and vendors andmember recogni-
tion awardswill be presented.
Inkster City Manager Richard Marsh
will be in attendance to meet residents,
according to a chamber spokesperson.

It's time to pull out old prom dresses or
bridesmaids gowns for a good cause - the
Canton Mom Prom is back and will benefit
theCantonGoodfellows.
This special celebration for all women,
not just moms, will take place from 8-11 p.m.
Saturday, April 5, at the Summit on the Park,
located at 46000 Summit Parkway.
No dates are required or allowed at this
special 21 and over dance. The Mom Prom
will feature dancing, hors d'oeuvres, drinks,
special raffle prize drawings, plus fun con-
tests including the 'Tackiest Dress' and 'Aqua
Net Contest' for the best hair in the room. In
addition, an official PromQueen will also be
crowned.
No dress code is required, but ladies are
encouraged to wear old prom dresses,
bridesmaids and wedding gowns, and thrift
store finds. Ladies will also want to put on
their dancing shoes.
The first Mom Prom was founded in 2006
by Canton resident Betsy Crapps who has
since taken this fundraising event nation-
wide, where women are invited to a 'ladies
night out' in their local communities that will
benefit an area charity.
Tickets are on sale now for $40 and
include two drink tickets and snacks. A cash
bar will also be available. Purchase tickets
