Art will accompany the Canton
Lions Club Pancake Breakfast at the
LibertyFest onSaturdaymorning.
Empty Canvas, a musical group
comprised of twin brothers Mike and
Scott McMath, will offer unique enter-
tainment during the breakfast event.
What sets the brothers apart from
othermusicians is thatMikeMcMath is
not only a singer, but is also a profes-
sional artist. During the performance,
McMath will sing and paint an entire
image.
The client gets to select the image
he or she would like McMath to paint,
and he never does the same picture
twice, organizer Sue Genau noted.
Audience members get to become part
of the show as well. McMath will bring
folks up on stage to add their ownpaint
strokes to the image. Genau added that
this is not splash painting or upside
down painting like is often done seen
elsewhere.
McMath's creations are beautiful
works of art that clients are proud to
display in their home or workplace,
Genau said. At the end of the show,
(either one or two hours long), the
painting can be auctioned or raffled -
and the client gets to keep the pro-
ceeds. It's a great way to recover all, if
not more than, the entertainment
expense, Empty Canvas organizers
agree.
“This is our first time performing at
the Liberty Festival.” Genau noted.
They decided to participate, “because
we love to perform at benefits and
fundraisers all over theMidwest.”
The proceeds of the money collect-
ed for the painting will go to the
Canton Lions Club, said Canton
Recreation Specialist Laura Mortier:
Actively involved in service to the
blind and visually impaired. Lions
Clubs International is also committed
to providing services for youth and
work to improve the environment,
build homes for the disabled, support
diabetes education, conduct hearing
programs and, through their founda-
tion, provide disaster relief around the
world.
