It's been a good season so far for the
RomulusGoodfellows.
The organization, which strives to
ensure there is No Child Without A
Christmas, has put on several fundraisers
and had several groups step forward,
according to Romulus Fire Chief David
Allison. So far, a fundraiser at the
Romulus House restaurant and the
Goodfellows' annual paper sale have
brought in nearly $9,000. The second
grade class at Romulus Elementary
School chipped in, too, with a fundraiser
that nettedmore than $100.
“We're not done yet,” said Allison.
“There will be more money coming in.
This would not be possiblewithout every-
one involved.”
Allison's wife, Julie, put on her most
successful holiday tea fundraiser to date.
The event took place on Dec. 7 at the
Romulus Athletic Center and generated
about $13,000 for the Goodfellows; her
goal hadbeen to raise $11,000.
“I don't know how she does it every
year,” said Romulus Treasurer Stacey
Paige.
“She did an outstanding job, as she
always does-and it's a lot of work. It allows
us to help families that wewouldn't other-
wise be able to.
“We really appreciate both of you,” she
toldAllison.
For more information or to donate to
the Goodfellows, call the Romulus Fire
Department at (734) 941-8585.
