Lightfest nowopen
The Wayne County Lightfest will be
open through Dec. 31, except Christmas
Day.
Two newdisplays have been added this
year and the entire light show has been
converted toLED lights. The show features
more than 47 giant animated holiday
themed displays. It is the largest and
longest drive-through light show in the
Midwest, officials said.
Thanksgiving food needed
The Salvation Army is collecting food
items such as turkeys, stuffing, canned veg-
etables and other items. for the
Thanksgiving Food Distribution set for
Nov. 23 and 25.
More than 450 families will be helped
by the program this year. There are also
several volunteer opportunities for
Thanksgiving andChristmas programs.

Clothing being collected
Station 885 Restaurant in Old Village of
Plymouth and La Bistecca Italian Grille on
Plymouth Road are both involved in the
Suits for Soldiers collection project. Suits
for Soldiers provides services for veterans
including clothing them for job interviews,
counseling, job interview help and much
more.
The restaurants are accepting gently
used, clean clothing through Nov. 30 which
will then be distributed to members of the
armed forces through the Suits for Soldiers
organization. Monetary donations will also
be accepted. Checks should bemade out to
Suits for Soldiers.

Jazzercize sponsors fundraiser
Jazzercize of Belleville will host Shop,
Drop & Hop a fundraiser for The Food
Closet at First United Methodist Church of
Belleville from 6-9 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 22
at theVanBurenRecreationCenter.
The event will allow guests to SHOP
among vendors to find unique holiday gifts,
DROP off a donation to help The Food
Closet fulfill their wish list and receive
monetary donations to support their organ-
ization, and HOP to lively popular music
while Jazzercise is demonstrated.
Vendors will include home-based busi-
nesses and artisans such as: The
Pampered Chef, Scentsy, Premier Designs
Jewelry, Tastefully Simple, Thirty-One,
Tupperware, Longaberger, and many oth-
ers.
Admission to Shop, Drop & Hop is a
free-will cash donation to The Food Closet
or a non-perishable food item.

Used books to be sold
The Friends of the Library have sched-
uled used book sales for noon to 4 p.m. the
second Friday and Saturday of the month
in the Romulus Public Library meeting
room. The next sale dates are Dec. 13-14 at

Crafty Storytime on Tuesday
The Leanna Hicks Inkster Public
Library hosts Crafty Storytime from 5-6
p.m. every Tuesday for children 10 years of
age and younger.
Parents and siblings are also welcome
at the hour when children can enjoy a
story and a fun craft.

Library hosts clothing drive
The Romulus Public Library, 11121
Wayne Road. will host a winter clothing
drive until Dec. 7. The goal is to think
about others during the holidays by provid-
ing warmth during the cold Michigan win-
ter. The collection will include mittens and
hats, which will be turned over to the
Romulus Goodfellows for distribution to
local families.

Belleville Festival of Tress opens
The Belleville Area Museum will host
the 18th Annual Festival of Holiday trees
during regular museum hours through
Dec. 28.
The museum is located at 405 Main St.
inBelleville.
The silent auction of trees will take
place through Dec. 10 and Santa will be at
the museum from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Dec.
14 and fromnoonuntil 4 p.m. Dec. 21.
The museum is open from 3-7 p.m. on
Tuesdays and from noon until 4 p.m.

Holiday pottery sale set
The Village Potters Guild will host the
annual Holiday Sale this weekend.
Functional and decorative pottery created
by 25 members of the guild will be avail-
able. Items include mugs, ornaments,
tiles, dinnerware, and large platters.
Prices range from$4 to $200.
The sale continues from 10 a.m. until 8
p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 22, from 10 a.m. until 5
p.m. Nov. 23 and from noon until 4 p.m.

Winter Card party planned
SSSimon and JudeChurch inWestland
will host a Winter Card Party from 6:30
until 10 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 22.
There will be door and table prizes, a
50-50 raffle, a light meal and snacks.
Tickets are $8 and will be available at the
door.

Northville hosts holiday parade
TheNorthvilleHoliday Lighted Parade
will begin at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 22,
from the Northville Recreation Center.
The parade will travel up West Main
Street, down Linden to Dunlap, march
down Dunlap to Hutton and back to East
Main. Marchers will then go down Center
to East Cady, up Wing back to the
RecreationCenter.
This year, the parade, Miracle on Main
Street, is sponsored by Tom Holzer Ford.
Complimentary refreshments will be avail-
able in Town Square before and after the
parade. After the parade, there will be a
community sing-a-long in Town Square to
welcome Santa Claus during the tree-light-
ing ceremony. Hostess for the event this
year is Tina Genitti and there will be a
guest appearance by Northville Citizen of
theYearMicheleFecht.
Free familymovie
A free Saturday movie matinee is
scheduled at the Romulus Public Library,
11121 Wayne Road. For adults, "The
Internship" starring Vince Vaughn and
OwenWilson is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. on
Saturday, Nov. 23. The PG-13 comedy is
about two old-school salesmen who try to
reboot their obsolete careers by participat-
ing in an internship program at the state-
of-the-art Google campus, vying for a hand-
ful of spots among tech-savvy college stu-
dents who are half their age and twice as
smart.
Zumba PartyHearty set
They'll be wearing red and dancing to
their heart's content during the Zumba
Party Hearty planned from noon until 1:30
p.m. Nov. 23 at the Summit on the Park in
Canton.
The Zumba Party Hearty is an effort to
help collect funds for the American Heart
Association and the Go Red for Women
campaign.
Admission to the event is a $5 mini-
mum donation, which will go directly to
the American Heart Association's Go Red
forWomenCampaign.
All ages are welcome. Zumba Party
Hearty participants are also asked to bring
bottled water and come ready tomove. For

Teen artists sought
The Leanna Hicks Inkster Public
Library will provide some art supplies and
inspirational books to assist teens in creat-
ing awork of art to enter in theMcDonald's
Black History Moments on Canvas compe-
tition from1-3 p.m. Nov. 23.

County executive visits Rotary
Wayne County Executive Robert
Ficano will be the featured speaker at the
Belleville Rotary Club dinner meeting
Dec. 3. The meeting will begin with dinner
at 6:15 p.m. in the basement of the First
United Methodist Church, 417 Charles St.
inBelleville.
Cost for the dinner and meeting, which
are open to the public, is $11.
Ficano will address the club following
dinner regarding issues affecting Wayne
County and the meeting will end at about

Santa to help light trees
Santa will make a special trip to
Westland to help Mayor William R. Wild
and the Westland City Council members
light the City of Westland Christmas Trees
at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 4 in front of city hall.
There will also be a sing-a-long and cook-
ies and cocoa with Santa at the William P.
Faust Public Library located at 6123
Central CityParkway at 6 p.m.

Cantonmarks 35th holiday ceremony
The annual Tree Lighting in Canton
Township will take place from 6-8:30 p.m.
Dec. 4 at the Summit on the Park, located
at 46000 Summit Parkway. This is the 35th
year for theholiday celebration.
Festivities will include Christmas car-
ols performed by the Plymouth Canton
Educational Park Octavians acappella
choir, Santa's arrival - courtesy of the
Canton Fire Department - and countdown
to the official Tree Lighting with Canton
Township Supervisor Phil LaJoy. Warm
soup or other hot beverage and food
options will be available for purchase
onsite fromTheRolling Stove food truck.
Special festive activities will also take
place inside the Summit, including addi-
tional refreshments and seasonal enter-
tainment. The cost is $5 per family.
The Tree Lighting Ceremony is spon-

Christmas Parade of Lights planned
The Belleville Area Chamber of
Commerce will present the annual
Christmas Parade of Lights at 6 p.m. Dec. 7.
The parade will begin at Belleville High
School.
Following the parade the official city
Christmas Tree-Lighting ceremony will
take place on the lawn of the Belleville
AreaMuseum, 405MainSt., Belleville.

Theater presents FlutterbyHour
FlutterBy Hour, which will include
happy, sad, silly, poignant and fun holiday
stories, will be presented by Barefoot
Productions at 8 p.m. Dec. 7. Audience
members can sign up to share their

mic portion of the program.
Holiday cookies will be available and
Vintner's Canton Winery will provide com-

Ornament workshops set
The Belleville Area Museum will host
the annual Children's Christmas Ornament
Workshops at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on

The Northville Historical Society will
present a Dickens Christmas Tea from 1-

with the museum signature tea. The event
