Turkey Trot set for ThanksgivingDay
Canton Leisure Services will host the
annual Turkey Trot for the Cause of
Epilepsy beginning with registration at 8
a.m. Nov. 22.
The event will begin at the Summit on the
Park and is a chip-timed one mile and 5K
run and walk through nearby Heritage Park
andPheasant RunGolf Course.

Artists host sale
A diverse group of local artists and
crafters will gather to hold a holiday sale
from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at
the Risen Christ Lutheran Church, 46250
AnnArborRoad inPlymouth.
Julie Brancart, an award winning paper
craft artist from Canton, invited 11 talented
friends to join her for this one-day sale. The
collection of hand-made items offered dur-
ing the sale includes textile work, stained
and fused glass art, framed pressed flowers
and unique jewelry. Also included is a vari-
ety of functional and decorative pottery cre-
ated by a member of the Village Potters
Guild.
Home-made holiday cookies and candles
will also be on sale.
Admission is free and refreshments will
be available.
CPR classes offered
A CPR training class is scheduled for 8
a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 25 at theRomulus Athletic
Center (RAC).
Class participants will be certified in
American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, AED
and Blood Borne Pathogens. Course materi-
alswill be provided.
Admission for the full course is $80 for
RACmembers; $90 for non-members.
The class has a maximum of 10 partici-
pants.
A refresher course will be offered from 8
a.m. to noon on Nov. 18. Admission is $70 for
members; $80 for non-members.

Faberge is lecture topic
A speaker from the Detroit Institute of
Arts will discuss the current exhibit at the
museumfeaturing the art of Faberge.
The discussion of the exhbit, which
featers more than 200 works of art from the
VirginiaMuseumof Fine Arts will take place
at 2 p.m. Nov. 29 and at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 at the
NorthvilleDistrict Library.

Parade of Lights set
The Belleville Area Chamber of
Commerce will present the annual
Christmas Parade of Lights at 6 p.m. Dec. 1.
Following the parade through downtown
Belleville, there will an official lighting of
the cityChristmas tree on themuseumlawn.
The event is open to the public at no cost.
Grief workshop scheduled
Ward Presbyterian Church is sponsoring
a holiday workshop for those who are griev-
ing. All adultswho have experienced the loss
of a loved one are welcome at this free work-
shop presented by Cathy Clough, founder
and executive director of New Hope Center
for Grief Support and author of "Grieving
Forward: DeathHappened, NowWhat?"
The workshop will take place from 7-8:30
p.m. Dec. 3 in Room C-319 at Ward Church
located at 40000 Six Mile Road in Northville
and will end with a special time of remem-
brance. There is no need to register, but for

Church hosts cookiewalk
The First United Methodist Church in
Wayne will host a cookie walk from 9 a.m.
until noonDec. 8.
The event will feature home made holi-
day candies and cookies sold by the contain-

The Belleville Area Museum will offer
Children's Christmas Ornament workshops

Movie andMakeover set
The Van Buren Township Recreation
Department will host Movie and a Makeover
for girls ages 5-12 from6-9 p.m. Dec. 8.
Dinner will be pizza and pop and the
makeover will include a manicure, makeup
and temporary tattoos.
Van Buren resident fee is $18, non-resi-
dent, $22.

Santa to attend brunch
Van Buren Township Recreation
Department will host Brunch With Santa
from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Dec. 16 at Van
BurenTownshipHall.
Pancakes byKing Brothers, sausage, milk,
orange juice and coffeewill be served.
The Jitterbugs Elite Dance Group will
entertain and there will be a craft to make
after brunch.
The cost is $6 per person, children
younger than 3 are admitted at no cost.

Hope for theHolidays planned
Hope for the Holidays is a seminar for
adults who are grieving and for those who
would like to help them. The seminar will
include a Time of Remembrance candle
lighting at 7 p.m. Dec. 3 at Ward Evangelical
Presbyterian Church, 40000 Six Mile Road
(just west of Haggerty Road), Northville,

Parking is available in the "C" lot.
Registration is not necessary, for the semi-
nar, conducted by New Hope Center for
Grief Support is a 501c3 non-profit organiza-
tion that offers workshops to those who are
grieving the deathof a loved one.
New Hope Center serves as a bereave-
ment outreach center; proceeds from this
event go to support their programs which
are offered at no cost.

The Wayne County Lightfest on Hines
Drive in Wetland is now welcoming visi-
tors. The largest and longest drive-through
light show in the Midwest, Lightfest fea-
tures more than 45 giant animated holiday
themed displays and more than 1 million
lights. The complete Lightfest route is
more than 4miles long. The display is open
from 7 until 10 p.m. now through Dec. 31.
Lightfest is closed on Christmas Day.
There is a $5 fee per vehicle.
Toy Nights this year are Dec. 4, 11 and
18. On these three nights, the community is
invited to bring a new, unwrapped toy in
lieu of the $5 vehicle fee for distribution to
the less fortunate inWayneCounty.
Santa's Workshop, located at
Warrendale Park at the end of the Lightfest
drive will open Thanksgiving Day and
Santa will be there until Dec. 23. Outside
Santa's workshop therewill be a giant mail-
box where children of all ages can drop off
their letters to Santa which will be picked
upby Santa's elves eachnight.
Hines Drive will be closed to traffic
beginning at 5:45 p.m. nightly. Visitors
enter Wayne County Lightfest at Hines
Drive andMerrimanRoad inWestland.
