The Sixth Annual Shop and
Dine Holiday Campaign is now
underway inWestland.
The annual six-week market-
ing campaign is a multifaceted
effort to promote the premier
shopping district inWestland as a
location
that
includes,
“Everything youwant. Everything
you need” for everyone's holiday
season shopping list.
Westland's Shop and Dine dis-
trict is anchored by the Westland
Shopping Center and is sur-
rounded by more than 160 local
shops, restaurants and services
making it Wayne County's pre-
mier shopping and dining desti-
nation, according to a statement
from the office of Mayor William
Wild.
The city plans TV commer-
cials which will begin airing the
week of Thanksgivingwith a huge
emphasis on Thanksgiving Day,
with a focus on female shoppers.
The commercial, starring local
resident and 2008 Miss Michigan
Ashlee Baracy, will be shown on
popular cable stations, including,
Food Network, TBS, Bravo, E!,
FX and History Channel. These
commercials highlight and
encourage shoppers to spend the
day in Westland and enjoy the
large selection of retail stores,
restaurants and state-of-the-art
MJRTheater.
Radio ads will also be hitting
the metro area air waves, and the
city will utilize billboards on
major freeways.
Back this year is “Wild About
The Holidays!” This new initia-
tive will see Wild playing the role
of Santa as he greets customers at
local stores and hands out gift
cards to unsuspecting shoppers
on Small Business Saturday, Nov.
28.
“Small businesses are a cru-
cial part of the success of our fan-
tastic shop and dine district,”
Wild remarked, “So when you
visit Westland this holiday sea-
son, tell them the City ofWestland
sent you!”
A new contest this year is a
partnership with Westland
Shopping Center. Until Dec. 15,
visitors to the city Facebook page
can register for a chance to win a
$1,000 shopping spree. No pur-
chase is necessary to enter the
contest.
Local veterans in need will have some-
thing to be thankful for this Thanksgiving
Day through the efforts of the Wayne-Ford
Civic Foundation, Mayor William Wild and
StateRep. Robert Kosowski.
The partnership will work to ensure vet-
erans in need have a proper Thanksgiving,
according to a prepared statement from
Wild's office.
“The veterans of our community have
given the ultimate sacrifice by putting their
life on the line to defend those here at
home. It is our duty to take care of those
distinguished members who have served
our country. Providing turkeys on
Thanksgiving is our way of honoring the
veterans of Wayne and Westland,” Wild
said.
The Wayne-Ford Civic Foundation, Wild
and Kosowski will be providing turkeys to
those veterans in need in time for
Thanksgiving. Veterans in need can call
Wild's office (734) 467-3200 or Kosowski

The production is a story about a
father who refused to correct his way-
ward son. An unexpected twist of fate in
the playwill have families thinking about
their values, a spokeswoman said.
"This play will remind families that no
matter what we've done, Christ loves us.
We can always run back to him," she
added.
