charge, prosecutors agreed to
drop charges of felony murder,
home invasion and felonious
assault against Dion Patterson,
ofWestland.
Patterson, who has remained
in jail since his arrest in the
early-morning hours of May 16,
will be sentenced in Wayne
County Circuit Court tomorrow.
According to police reports,
Green, 33, was visiting his girl-
friend at her home in the 35000
block of Thames in Westland, a
house immediately next door to
the home Patterson occupied
with his mother. As Green, his
girlfriend and two other people
returned to the home at about
2:15 a.m. police said, Patterson's
mother opened a window in her
home and engaged in a verbal
exchange with the group, sug-
gesting they be more quiet. That
conversation woke Patterson,
according to police reports, who
questionedhismother about the
incident. He then armed him-
self with a kitchen knife and
approached the neighboring
home which he entered through
at unlocked door. Police said
that as Green attempted to close
the door and push Patterson
back outside, to prevent him
from entering the home, he was
stabbed three times.
Emergency
personnel
arrived on the scene in
response to a 911 call and trans-
ported Green to Annapolis
Hospital where he died as a
result of the wounds, according
to police.
Green attended Wayne
Memorial High School and was
a constructionworker.
Patterson returned to his
home immediately after the
altercationwhere he was arrest-
edby officerswithout incident.
