There will be Zombies walking
the streets ofWayneOct. 26 during
the Downtown Wayne Zombie
PubCrawl.
Organizers suggest starting at 8
p.m. when Zombies meet at US 12
Bar & Grill and proceed to
Stockdale's on West Michigan
Avenue. The Zombies then limp
along to Jake's Again.
The free event will end at the
Village Bar and Billiards, but
walkers should all be costumed to
participate. The Zombie Walk
takes place the Friday before
Halloween every year. The
Zombies make several stops along
their way down Michigan Avenue.
The event is for those 21 and older
and includes gift certificates and
prizes.
Those without costumes are
urged to be creative. One organiz-
er and experienced Zombie sug-
gests picking an outfit that once
meant something, like your doc-
tor's scrubs or cheerleader's uni-
form. Rip your clothes in areas
that complement your story as to
what you were doing when you
were turned into one of the walk-
ing dead. It's your story, have fun
with it, she added.
“Your makeup is a key factor to
realism and how far you want to
go for the full zombie effect. For
fake blood, corn syrupworks great
but can be very sticky so use with
caution. Another great way to get
a more realistic effect with fake
blood is to put it on in layers. Add
multiple coats of blood to darken
the stains, letting each application
dry first. You can also go online
and find recipes to make your
ownblood aswell,” she said.
“Just think of the reaction you
will get when you ask the teller at
the store which aisle the brains
are in. Happy Halloween zom-
bies, hope to see you there,” she
said.
Wayne has become a destina-
tion for Halloween activities. Visit

Weekend will begin and include

27 along West Michigan Avenue, a

with 10,000 pieces of candy, a 45-
minute a laser light show over
Michigan Avenue between
Second Street and Wayne Road
and a free-drive in type double-
header movie in the Sav-A-Lot
Parking lot, across from St. Mary’s
Church andSchool.
The movies will be Disney
Halloween Town and then The
SixthSense.
All events are free and are
sponsored by Wayne Westland
Federal Credit Union, Rush
Trucking, Mark Chevrolet and

Hallo-Wayne was organized by
the
Destination
Wayne
Committee.
Fifty members of the community joined
Mayor William R. Wild in informal dialogue
to discuss options for addressing structural
and basement flooding problems that have
plagued Westland City Hall for over 30 years
recently.
During the second of five Town Hall
meetings at Christ Temple Apostolic Church
and joined by several members of the
Westland City Council, Wild and Livonia
based Orchard, Hiltz & McCliment Urban
PlanningDirector Tony Slanecmet with resi-
dents to discuss the options available to the
city, in an effort to build community consen-
sus on the best way to replace the troubled
building. Talks centered around three main
options. The first would be to build on the
current Ford Road campus which would
require relocating the Fire Station located
on Ford and Carlson Road. Another option
would place the new city hall behind the
William P. Faust Library on Central City
Parkway, on city owned land and would not
require a millage request. There was also
discussion about other potential sites located
in the Westland Mall area that would fit the
design criteria of theminimum5-acres.
Amove to city-owned property behind the
library or another location in the TIFA (Tax
Increment Finance Authority) district would
enable the city to utilize proceeds fromTIFA
tax capture to meet financing obligations
and would not require residents to support
the costs of a new city hall with millage
funds,Wild said.
Wild also unveiled a long range vision for
the district which includes the creation of a
new “linear park”. The linear park would
begin just north of Ford Road and run paral-
lel to Central City Parkway which would be
reconfigured, reduced to three instead of
four lanes, eliminating the boulevard and
moving the road to the right. The linear park
would extend toWarrenRoad.
“Therewas an incredible amount of inter-
est in the linear park concept and generally,
residents expressed a desire to see city hall
remain onFordRoad,”WildSaid.
The next Town Hall meeting, which is
open to the public, will take place from 6-8
p.m. tonight at Edison Elementary School.
34505 Hunter and Nov. 14 at Cooper Upper
Elementary, 28550AnnArbor Trail.
