Ghosts, goblins and even some
ghouls are out and about throughout
the area in celebration of Halloween. In
Northville, Plymouth and Wayne scare-
crows and skeletons have taken over
the streets to celebrate the spookiest
day of the year and throughout the
area, other activities are planned to
help celebrate the holiday. Here are a
fewplanned in the area….
Halloween Forest Hike set
Halloween activities in
Westland will include a
HalloweenForest FunHike
Beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct.
18 atNankinMills.
Hikers can register for one
start time at 6, 6:30, 7 or 7:30 p.m.
Each program lasts 1½ - 2 hours
including the live animal show.
Hikers will meet the "not-so-
scary and sort-of-silly" nature-
related costumed characters who
will tell all about themselves.
Hikers should arrive 15 minutes
before their assigned starting
time.
Hikes will be outdoors, so par-
ticipants should dress according-
ly. The program will be moved
indoors only if it's very rainy. After
a 45-minute hike, there will be a
live animal show indoors.
The event is for ages 4 through
adults and is co-sponsored by the
Friends ofNankinMills.

NankinMills hosts
Halloween Festival
Wayne County Parks will also
sponsor a Halloween Festival
from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at
the Hines Park-Nankin Mills pic-
nic area.
Children dressed in costumes
are welcome and the event
includes hayrides, inflatables, a
costume parade, games, trick-or-
treating, entertainment andmuch
more.
The Hines Park-Nankin Mills
Area is located on Hines Drive,
east of Ann Arbor Trail in
Westland.

CornMaze open at Maybury Farm
The 12-acre corn maze at
Maybury Farm is open and
accessed only by a wagon ride.
Those who successfully complete
the maze by finding the eight hid-
den animals will be eligible for a
Meijer gift certificate. After com-
pleting the maze, visitors will be
taken by wagon back to the
Welcome Center where cider,
donuts, snacks, and a toasty fire
await.
Visit the Northville Meijer
(Service Center), Community
Financial Credit Union, or Tom
Holzer Ford in Farmington and
receive a coupon for 10 percent
off eachadmission.
All the proceeds from the
maze are used to pay winter feed
bills for the farm animals.
Hours are Fridays 6 to 10 p.m.
Fridays; 1- 10 p.m. Saturdays and
1-8 p.m. Sundays.
Wagons to the maze leave one
hour prior to closing time through
Nov. 3. Group tours for 15 ormore

Maybury Farm is located at

and Napier (continue ½mile past
the State Park entrance on the
south side of 8 Mile). Parking is

CemeteryHistory Tour set
Tyler Cemetery will be the site
of the Belleville Area Museum
and Historical Society History
Tour from 3-7 p.m. Oct. 19. Tours
will start every half hour and
includes stories of many of the
first residents of Van Buren
Township, now buried in Tyler
Cemetery.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $5
for children, seniors and histori-

Pumpkin Palooza set in Plymouth
Pumpkin Palooza will take
place throughout downtown
Plymouth from noon until 3 p.m.
Oct. 20.
Streets will be closed to traffic
so young costumed tricksters can
visit area businesses seeking
candy.
There will be games, candy,
contests, candy, activities, candy,
entertainment, candy, a haunted
alley and candy.
There will also be an age-
based costume contest for chil-

Howl-ween costume contest set
The 5th Annual Howl-ween
Costume Contest for pets is
planned from 11:45 a.m. until 1
p.m. Oct. 20 in Kellogg Park. The
judgingwill begin at noon.
The event is sponsored by the
City of Plymouth Recreation
Department and prizes will be
awarded to the first, second and
thirdplacewinners in the contest.
Pets are urged to bring their
owners to the park where event
bags will be presented to the first

A Costume Parade and Trick
or Treat Street will take place
throughout downtown Northville
fromnoonuntil 2:30 p.m. Oct. 26.
The sidewalk Costume Parade
is planned for noon until 12:30
p.m. beginning at the Community
Center, 303 W. Main St. There will
be special parade escorts from
Preservation Dental including
the Tooth Fair, Candy Cop and
Miss Sweet Tooth.
Trick or treating in downtown
stores will take place from 12:30
until 1:30 p.m. and a Halloween
puppet show is planned for 1:45
p.m. inTownSquare.

HalloWayne planned
The third annual HalloWayne
will take place throughout down-
town Wayne from 4-9 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 26.
Trick-or-treaters will be visit-
ing nearly 200 participating busi-
nesses searching for treats. There
will also be a pumpkin carving
contest and voting for favorite
pumpkins.
Admission is $1 per partici-
pant.

Judge to tell ghost stories
The Canton Historical Society
will host an evening of Ghost
Stories, presented by Judge
Ronald Lowe from 6-7:30 p.m.
Oct. 27 in the Summit on the Park
Grand Ballroom, 46000 Summit
Parkway inCanton.
The stories are suitable for
children 8 years of age and older
The evening of spine-tingling
tales awaits those brave enough
to attend.
Cider and donuts will also be
available, while supplies last.
Tickets are $10 per family or
$4 per individual and can be pur-
chased at the Summit on the
Park, the Pole Barn at the Canton
Farmers Market every Sunday,

WickedHalloweenRun set
The Wicked Halloween Run,
sponsored by St. Mary Mercy in
Livonia will begin at 8 a.m. Oct. 27
in Kellogg Park in downtown
Plymouth.
The 10 K run begins at 8 a.m.
and all participants will receive a
Leslie Jordan long-sleeve Tech
shirt, classic finisher medal and
age-group awards. The 5K walk
will begin at 9 a.m. and partici-
pants will also receive the shirt
and age-group awards. The
Monster Mile will start at 8:15
a.m. with shirts for all partici-
pants.
There will be entertainment
and a Monster Mash party follow-
ing the run with live music and a
dance performance along with a
food and beverage buffet at the
haunted finish.
There will also be a costume
contest.

annual Trick or Treat Parade
from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30.
This fun family tradition will take
place at the Summit on the Park,

Dozens of themed stations will
be available for ages 12 and

providing Halloween candy
