William G. Meyer
William G. Meyer, 59, a resi-
dent of Brighton formerly of
Belleville, died unexpectedly
in his home on Sept. 25,
2013.
Mr. Meyer retired from Ford
Motor Co. in 2007 after 33
years and enjoyed work with
All Star Driver Education in
Howell.
Among those left to cherish
his memory are his beloved
wife of 34 years, Wanda; dear
children, Rebecca and
Connor; father, Donald;
brothers, Thomas (Nancy),
Kevin (Marcia), Douglas; sis-
ters, Donna (Rich) Matta and
Sue; many nieces, nephews
and extended family mem-
bers; a host of friends, and
his faithful companions.
Mr. Meyer was preceded in
death by his mother, Jean
and brother, Ronald.

Mangan officiating.

Car raffle under way
The Belleville Area Chamber of
Commerce is sponsoring a draw-
ing for a 24-month lease on a 2014
Ford Focus. Mileage allowed will
be 10,500 per year.
The drawing will take place at
the Winterfest, on Saturday, Dec. 7.
Ticket cost is $20 each and only
1,000 tickets will be sold. Odds of
winning are better than winning
the lottery, according to chamber
representatives.

A ribbon-cutting to welcome the
55 life-sized skeletons on display

Inkster volunteers sought
Starfish Family Services is host-
ing a Volunteer Fair from 11 a.m.
until 1 p.m. Oct. 5 at their head-
quarters, 30000Hively in Inkster.

The 9th Annual Chocolate
Affair and Luncheon will take

Laurel Manor Banquet and

The 18th Annual Great Lakes
Regional Chili Cookoff will return
to downtownPlymouthOct. 6.
Cooks will be checking in as
early as 8 a.m. to begin prepara-
tions and chili and salsa should be
ready for the public to sample by
11 a.m.
There will be a motorcycle
show a restaurant chili challenge,
live band, dance performances
and children's activities, alongwith
the announcement of the winning
chili and salsa entries.

Free rock concert planned
A Plymouth-area rock band will
stage a free concert at The
Plymouth Community Arts
Council's Joanne Winkleman
Hulce Center for the Arts at 8 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 12.
The Plymouth based group
D'Art Band will perform a mix of
original music and classic rock at
this free concert as part of the art
council Saturday Night Concert
series.
"This is a great chance for us to
show our appreciation to our fans
in the wonderfully artistic atmos-
phere of the PCAC" said D'Art
Band drummer Jerry Teevens.
The other band members are Jane
Renwick Fry, lead vocals and per-
cussion; Waldon Reed Jr., lead gui-
tar and vocals; Pete Celano, bass
guitar, rhythm guitar and vocals;
Craig Fry, keyboards and vocals
and Celeste Reed, flute and per-
cussion.

rock 'n' roll bandwith roots stretch-

The Annual Friends of the
Library used book sale at the
Wayne Public Library will take

LittleNinjas to begin
The City of Plymouth
Recreation Department will spon-
sor Little Ninjas Karate classes
beginning at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 9.
The introductory karate class is
designed for children ages 4 and 5.
It focuses on teaching children:
focus, memory, teamwork, disci-
pline, self-control, fitness, balance,
and coordination. Students should
wear loose fitting clothes and a
responsible adult must remain in
attendance during class.
The half-hour classes will con-
tinue through Nov. 13. The cost is
$45 per student or $30 for City of
Plymouth residents.

The Wayne Historical Society
will have a Beginners Genealogy
Workshop with Brenda Ozog
beginning at 7:30 p.m. Thursday,

Wayne Historical Museum, 1 Town
Square in Wayne. Seating will
begin at 7 p.m. and refreshments

St. Theodore's Confraternity of
Christian Women is looking for

St. John's Episcopal Church,
Westland will be having a Fall

crafts and food anddrink for sale.
The Trunk or Treat will take
place from 6:30-7:30 p.m. when
cars will fill the lot for the
Halloween celebration. Cars may
enter the parking lot and set up
from 5-6 p.m. there will be treats,
prizes for costumes and a fire pit
with s'mores.
