Clothing to be provided
Items of clothing for all ages will be given
away at no cost during the Middlebelt
Baptist Church Clothes Give Away sched-
uled for 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sept. 13.
There will be clothing, and some house-
hold items, available for adults and children
in most sizes, according to a prepared
announcement fromthe church.

Auditions for PUPSplanned
Young actors can audition for The
Plymouth Uptown Players 2014 fall season
from 1-3 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Plymouth
Community Arts Council located at 774 N.
Sheldon Road in Plymouth. Youths ages 5-
13, kindergarten through eighth grade, will
be asked to read a short monologue for
returning director Amanda Ewing from
Tipping Point Theatre. The piece may be
memorized or read fromprintednotes.
The program costs $160 per actor for the
season, with a current $30 arts council stu-
dent membership required. Actors may pre-
register online or by phone or in-person the
day of auditions, or pre-register by calling
the Plymouth Community Arts Council from
9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through
Thursday. Performances for the fall 2014
season will take place at 5:30 p.m. Friday,
Dec. 12 and 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13.
Performances take place at The Tipping
Point Theatre in downtown Northville.

Tour de Ville set for bikers
The Northville Rotary Club, the
University of Michigan and Northville
HealthCenterwill present theTourDeVille
beginning at 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 13 at the
registration site at Northville Downs,
Griswold andBeal streets.
Three routes along Hines Drive will be
available for bikers in a 10, 30 and 75 mile
trail. The event is a fundraiser for the
RotaryClub.

Senior scams explained
The Senior Brigade, a Michigan Seniors
Initiative, will visit the Leanna Hicks Public
Library of Inkster to explain phone and
mail scams used against senior citizens at a
6 p.m. meeting Sept. 15.
Topics discussed will include charitable
scams, phone, mail and email scams and
how to reduce unwanted phone calls and
junk mail. Wayne to report a problem will
also be discussed.
The meeting is free and open to the pub-
lic. The library is located at 2005 Inkster
Road in Inkster.
Senator hosts local hours
Sen. Patrick Colbeck, R-Canton and
District Manager Penny Crider will host
office hours for the general public from 6-8
p.m. Sept. 15 at the Belleville District
Library, 167FourthSt. Belleville.
Colbeck will be on hand to answer ques-
tions and respond to concerns any residents
of his districtmay have.
This will be an opportunity for local resi-
dents tomeet withColbeck to address issues

Church sets rummage sale
The First Methodist Church Of Wayne-
Westland will host a fall rummage sale from
9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18 and
Friday, Sept. 19 and from 9 a.m. until noon
onSaturday, Sept. 20.
Saturday is also bag day when a full gro-
cery bag of items will be priced at $2 and a
plastic lawnbag of itemswill be priced at $5.
Home made baked goods and refresh-
mentswill also be available for sale.

The PaintedChair planned
The Northville Art House will sponsor
The Painted Chair, a fundraiser for the facil-
ity from 7-10 p.m. Sept 18 at Northville
Winery&BrewingCo.
The event will be an auction of one-of-a-
kind chairs, creatively altered by local
artists.
The $35 advance ticket fee will include
wine and cider tastings along with hors
d'oeuvres. Ticketswill be $40 at the door.

Library sells used books
The Friends of the William P. Faust
Public Library of Westland, 6123 Central
City Parkway, will sell used library books
from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sept. 19 and 20 and
from noon until 3 p.m. Sept. 21. Sunday is
also Bag Sale day when amedium sized bag
of bookswill be sold for $4.
Hardcover books will be priced at $1,
large paperbacks at 50 cents, small paper-
backs, videos, cassettes and records will cost
25 cents and romance novels andmagazines
will cost a dime.

Parade deadline nears
There are only a few days left for
entries in the Romulus Rotary Club
Parade of Lights, the opening event for
the annual PumpkinFestival.
All entries must be submitted no
later than Sept. 17 for the paradewhich
will begin at 8 p.m. on Sept. 19 at
Romulus High School and travel down
Tobine, Shook and Goddard roads to
the ProgressiveHall onOzgaRoad. The
festival is Sept 19, 20 and 21.
The parade will take place rain or
shine and will award a $100 cash prize
for the first place winner in each of sev-
eral divisions. All entries must be light-
ed. Applications can be found on the
