Hallelujah ends Sunday
Barefoot Productions' summer
comedy hit, The Hallelujah Girls,
has two final performances this
weekend, one at 8 p.m. Saturday
and again at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Last weekend, the showbrought
the house down with laughter, a
standing ovation and two sold out
performances, said Artistic
Director CraigHane.
Tickets are $15 each for all seats

School needs being collected
Plymouth Community United
Way is sponsoring a Back to School
Supplies Drive through Friday,
Aug. 23.
New socks and underwear are
needed as well as pencils, paper,
erasers and all other school sup-

Tennis classes offered
The Wayne Westland Parks and
Recreation Department will offer
an Introduction to Tennis program
from 6-6:55 p.m. on Wednesdays
fromAug. 14 until Sept. 4.
The sessions will take place at
Attwood Park and are designed for
students 6-10 years of age. The cost
for the lessons, which will teach
basic skills, concepts, terminology
and skills, is $30 per student.
Racquets will be provided for stu-
dentswho need them.
A more advanced Skills Camp
will be offered from 7-7:55 p.m. the
same dates. These classes are for
11-14 year old students and will
also cost $30 per student.
Classes are designed for begin-
ning and intermediate level stu-
dents.
Students should bring a racquet,
sunscreen, water bottle and wear
tennis shoes.
All classes will take place at
AttwoodPark.

Annual YardSale planned
The Belleville Area Museum
and Historical Society needs new
or slightly used unwanted items for
the upcoming Belleville City Wide
YardSale, set for Sept. 5-8.
Items can be dropped off at the
museum, 405 Main St., or at John
Juriga's home on East HuronRiver
Drive. Tax donation letters will be
issued for all donations.
Volunteers are also needed to
help with the sale. Those interest-
ed in helping should contact the

Softball leagues now forming
The Wayne Westland parks and
Recreation Department is now
accepting registrations for the Fall
Softball Leagues
Games will take placeweekdays
at Anderson Park and Wayne and
Jaycee Park in Westland. There
will be amanagers meeting at 7 .m.
Sept. 4 at the Wayne Community
Center.
Games will begin the week of
Sept. 10. Registration fee is $250
per team and must be paid in full
at the time of registration. An addi-
tional $13 per teammust be paid to
the umpire at the beginning of
each game.

Museumvisit planned
The Northville Art House is
organizing a visit to the Detroit
Institute of Arts for area seniors.
The free visit will being at 1 p.m.
Aug. 16 with a tour of the
Northville Art House prior to
boarding the complimentary shut-
tle bus from Northville to the DIA.
The bus will leave the Art House,
215Cady St., at about 2 p.m.
There will be a tour of the
downtown Detroit museum before
the shuttle departs for Northville
at 4:30 p.m. The bus will drop pas-
sengers off at the Northville Art
House.
The free day trip is limited to
the first 55 participants who are 55
and older.

Public Safety Day planned
Van Buren Police and Fire
Department officials have planned
a Public Safety Day celebration
from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Aug. 10 at
Walgreen's, 10276 Belleville Road,
VanBurenTownship.
Members of both public safety
branches will be on hand and tours
of the newly refurbished Fire
Smoke House will be available.
There will also be a display of
police vehicles and fire trucks and
both Dee-Dee the Clown and Andy
the Ambulance will entertain chil-
dren.
There will be free face painting
and a fingerprinting program dur-
ing the day.
The event is free and no pre-
registration is required.
Barefoot sets casting call
Barefoot Productions has
scheduled a casting call from 7-9
p.m. Aug. 12 and 13 for the first
main stage production of the 2013-
2014 season, Murder by Poe, writ-
ten by Jeffrey Hatcher and direct-
ed by artistic director Craig A.
Hane.
Murder By Poe is a
drama/thriller, adapted from the
stories of Edgar Allan Poe, with
roles for seven men and seven.
Characters range in age from 19 -
65. Auditions will be at the
Barefoot Productions Theatre,
located at 240 N. Main St.,
Plymouth. Actors are asked to
bring a resume and headshot, if
available. The audition will
include cold readings from the
script, but actors should be pre-
pared to recite a section fromPoe's
TheRaven.
The staging of Murder By Poe is
a theatrical reimagining of some of
Edgar Allan Poe's most famous
tales of terror. "The Black Cat",
"The Tell-Tale Heart", "The
Murders in the Rue Morgue" and
"The Fall of the House of Usher."

NinjagoCamp set
The City of Plymouth
RecreationDepartment is sponsor-
ing a Ninjago camp for children 5-
10 years of age from 1-4 p.m. Aug.
12 through 16.
Each day campers will be build-
ing various models based on the
Ninjago theme. Campers will be
playing Lego Ninja games and par-
ticipating in challenges.
The fee is $185 for non residents
and $170 for residents.

Board of Trustees participated in
the ceremony early Monday morn-
ing at the site, marking the end of
the demolition and the availability

Food distribution planned
The next distribution of emer-
gency food by Plymouth
Community United Way is sched-
uled for 9:30-11 a.m. 11 Thursday,
Aug. 15. The Emergency Food
Assistance Program provides low-
income Plymouth and Northville
residents with canned, non-per-
ishable andperishable items.
All recipients must pre-regis-
ter at Plymouth Community
United Way, 960 W. Ann Arbor
Trail, Suite 2, Plymouth.
This is a supplemental food
program that may be used in
addition to other assistance pro-
grams. Bridge Card holders auto-
matically qualify, but need to pre-
register. Recipients not currently
on governmental assistance (food
stamps, ADC and general) must
provide documentation including
proof of income and residency
before receiving food on distribu-
tiondays.
Distributions continue the
third Thursday of each month at
St. Kenneth Catholic Church in
Plymouth.
