Farmoffers story time
Moms and tots days have begun at
MayburyFarm.
Story time will be offered for toddlers and
tots at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. every Wednesday,
along with animal visits, and play on the
farm-themed playground. Story times are
interactive and there will be a new story
eachweek.
Admission is $2.50 per person, children 2
and younger are admitted at no cost.
Maybury Farm is located at 50165 Eight
Mile Road in Northville about 1 ¼mile west
of Beck Road and about ½ mile past
Maybury State Park. Enter at the Maybury
Farmsign. Parking is free.

The Summer Lunch Food Program

Civil War 150marked
The Wayne Public Library will feature an
exhibit of CivilWar 150 through July 8.
Civil War 150 is a national program
designed to encourage public exploration of
the impact and contested meanings of the
American Civil War. This is a traveling exhi-
bition presented by the Gilder Lehrman
Institute of American History and the
Library of America. It is funded by the
National Endowment for theHumanities.

Raffle tickets aid shelter

a 2013 Del Ray scooter which is being raffled
off tohelp fund theRomulus Animal Shelter.

Youth Theatre plans classes
Registration for the Stage IV Youth
TheatreSummer Session is nowunderway.
The cost for the classes is $125 per stu-
dents for residents of Wayne orWestland and
$135 for non-residents.
Full payment must be made at the time of
registration. There are some scholarships
available.
Registration is available at the Wayne
Community Center, 4635 Howe Road, Wayne
from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through
Friday and from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on week-
ends. Registration is limited to 35 students.

Aug. 1, the students will perform in Seussical
Jr. at 7 p.m. Aug. 2, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Aug. 3

Maybury Farmoffers camp
Maybury Farm Day Camp is a hands-on
experience that offers a wide variety of activ-
ities including: grooming and feeding ani-
mals, gardening, hiking, crafts, recycling,
teambuilding games andmanymore.
Maybury Farm Day Camp is for boys and
girls ages 7-14. Camp hours are 9 a.m. until 4
p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
from July 9 until Aug. 22. The cost is $55 per
camper per day or $145 per week Tuesday
throughThursday.

Friends seeking home to help
The Wayne Friends organization is seek-
ing nominations for homes for the 15th year
of their annual project.
The volunteer group meets to help a local
homeowner with maintenance and painting
each year. The only stipulation for homes is
that theymust be owner occupied.
This year, the volunteer home makeover
will take place Sept. 14. In case of rain, the
daywill be changed toSept. 21.
Volunteers will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the
Wayne Banquet Center for a continental
breakfast and then travel to the selected
home which they will paint in "five hours or
less," according to group organizer Edward
McMurray. Volunteers are need for the com-
munity event.
To suggest a homeowner who could use
the Friends' help due to age or financial cir-
cumstances, or to volunteer, contact

Charity golf event set
Belleville Young Life, a non-profit
Christian organization thatmentors youths in
Belleville, Van Buren Township, Sumpter
Township, Ypsilanti, Wayne, Canton
Township and Romulus, is sponsoring the
Second Annual Charity Golf Tournament.
The program is open to any student in mid-
dle school or high school.
The fundraiser will take place from 1-7
p.m. June 29 at the Eagle Crest Golf Club,

Firefighters host benefit
The Western Wayne Professional
Firefighters Local 1279 is planning a benefit
for the daughter of Brian Woehlke, the
Westland firefighter who died in the line of
duty earlier this year.
The event will include food, a 50/50 raffle,
drinks, prizes, music and a silent auction and
will take place from 4 p.m. until midnight
July 6 at the Hellenic Cultural Center, 36375
JoyRoad inWestland.
Admission is a $20 donation which will go
to the trust forMr.Woehlke's daughter, Ava.

Sidewalk Sales set inWayne
Starting July 11, the Wayne Chamber of
Commerce will be hosting Wayne's 55th
Annual SidewalkSales.
The sales will take place on Wayne Road
and Michigan Avenue in downtown Wayne
and will last for three days. The last day of
the event, July 13, coincides with the US12
Cruise along Wayne Road and Michigan
Avenue.
The Sidewalk Sales event allows local
businesses to promote their stores and clear
their shelves of spring merchandise.
Customers are encouraged to join the event
for some of the best deals of the year.
Church plansWowJam
They're looking for smiles and if the plans
themembers of Cornerstone City Church are
any indication, they are sure to succeed dur-
ing theWowJamplanned for July 19.
The church is looking to transform the
lives of area neighbors with the free event
planned from4-8 p.m. inWayne.
The outreach event is a party for the local
community and everything offered will be
free to thosewho attend.
The church will be providing free gro-
ceries, free haircuts and manicures, free
family photos, free bike repair, free potted
plants and freehotmeals.
There will also be prize giveaways, games
for children, a Bounce House and other
entertainment.
The Wow Jam will take place at Goudy
