Chad tough
In memory of Chad Carr who lost his battle with inoperable
brain cancer last year, members of the Romulus High School
National Honor Society adopted the Chad Tough Foundation,
a group dedicated to raising funds to help fight pediatric can-
cer. Chad, diagnosed with brain cancer in September of 2014,
frequently visited his aunt Melissa Carr, a math teacher at
Romulus High School, and was one of the 23 children diag-
nosed with some type of cancer every day. According to
Kathy Abdo, a math teacher at the high school, the National
Honor Society students coordinated several fundraisers during
the school year and generated $4,000 which was given to
Tammi Curtis Carr, Chad's mother. "Our goal is to raise aware-
ness so that more money and attention will be given to pedi-
atric cancer research," said Abdo. Chad's family, which
includes his College Football Hall of Fame grandfathers, for-
mer University of Michigan Football head coach Lloyd Carr
and safety Tom Curtis, have continued to keep Chad's spirit
alive through the #ChadTough campaign. To donate, visit
