Seed money
Last week, students from Amerman Elementary School presented a check to
Cindy Kern, Maybury Farm director, second from left. Vanessa Bryer, left, an
Amerman student who is on the Lighthouse Leadership Team, proposed a Read-
A-Thon to help fund the Farm Garden, a quarter-acre plot filled with a variety of
vegetables and produce. The garden is open to guests for self-picking through-
out the summer and fall. The garden is also used for groups, schools and farm
campers to learn about the soil and food needs and the life cycle of plants.
Amerman students were able to raise $3,724 and sent half to their school library
to buy new books and the remaining $1,862 went to the Maybury Farm Garden.
