Streets fill with flowers
The 34th Annual Flower Sale will take
place in downtown Northville from 9 a.m.
until 6 p.m. today, May 24 and from 9 a.m.
until 5 p.m. tomorrow, May 25.
The streets of downtown will be paved
with flowers, shrubs and garden accessories
More than 20 top-rated greenhouses and
garden shopswill participate in the event.

Gardenviews plans block party
Join the folks at Gardenviews in celebrat-
ing their 18th year in business. After the
flower vendors leave on Saturday, May 25,
MainStreet betweenCenter&Huttonwill be
transformed into a block party for the
Gardenviews 18th Anniversary Dancing in
the Street Celebration. Tables and chairs
will line the street and food will be available
from local restaurant vendors such as
Genitti's, Buckministers, and Le George
Mediterranean Bistro to name a few. Bring
your dancing shoes as Billy Mack & the Juke
Joint Johnnies will entertain from 7 until
10:30 p.m.
Memorial Day parade set
VFW Post 4012 proudly presents the 2013
Memorial Day Parade beginning at 10 a.m.

The parade will continue north on
Griswold to west onMain to south onWing to
West on Cady, stopping at Oakwood
Cemetery, continue to First, south to

Thunder Rolls intoBelleville
For the ninth year, Thunder Rolls is
planned in Belleville on Memorial Day, May
27.
The annual motorcycle ride and
Memorial Day service to honor veterans will
begin with registration and a line up of bikes
at 11 a.m. in the parking lot of Wayne County
Community College. The lot is located off
Haggerty and I-94, exit 192 then north on
Haggerty.
The ridewill officially start at 1 p.m.
The memorial service will begin at about
2-2:30 p.m. after the riders arrive at the
Belleville Veteran's Memorial in Horizon
Park off BellevilleLake onHighStreet.
There is a $10 registration fee to be paid at
the time of signup. Each registered riderwill
receive a commemorative pin.
The event is organized each year by the
David C. Brown Funeral Home and the
BrownFamilyCenter inBelleville.

State sets final hearing
The Michigan Department of
Transportation (MDOT) will host the fourth
and final public meeting for the I-275 at M-
153 (Ford Road) Area Traffic and
Environmental Study and Evaluation from 5-
7 p.m. Thursday, May 30 in the Grand
Ballroomat Summit on thePark inCanton.
During the meeting, MDOT will present
the preferred alternative to address Ford
Road congestion. Public input and participa-
tion at this meeting are strongly encouraged,
a spokeswoman said.
The meeting will be an open house for-
mat. There will be no formal presentation
but numerous stations will be available for
attendees to get information on the project or
to talkwithproject teammembers.

Veterans honoredwith parade
The annual Plymouth Memorial Day
Parade will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Main and
Wing streets and conclude for a brief remem-
brance of men and women who have served
in the military at Veteran's Memorial Park at
Main andChurch streets.
The parade will take about one hour
according to organizers.
Main Street and cross streets like Ann
Arbor Trail and Penniman at Main Street
will be closed to traffic as well as the area
near Main and Church streets, including
MainStreet betweenUnion andFralick.
Roads are expected to be reopened by 11
a.m. according to city officials.
Senator hosts coffee hour
State Sen. Hoon Yung Hopgood (D-Taylor)
will host a coffee hour for constituents from
8-9 a.m. June 7, at the Romulus House
Restaurant.
The meeting is open to the public and
offer an opportunity for the public to discuss
state and local issues directly with the sena-
tor.
The restaurant is located at 9110 Wayne
Road inRomulus.
Stage struck
More than 50 young actors from throughout the area will perform in the Spotlight on
Youth weekend performances of The Little Mermaid at the Village Theater at Cherry
Hill. The 1 hour, 25-minute show has one intermission and is appropriate for children 5
and older. Tickets are $13 and available online at www.spotlightplayersmi.org. Click on
tickets. Performances are at 7 p.m. May 30, 31, June 1 and June 2 and again at 2 p.m.
