Grief support groupmeets
NewHope Center for Grief Support spon-
sors an ongoing support group for those who
have lost a loved one to suicide. This group
meets from 7-8:30 p.m. on the second and
fourth Thursday night of each month at Life
Church, 7001HaggertyRoad inCanton.
No registration is necessary for this drop-

Taste of Plymouth isMonday
The Taste of Plymouth and Plymouth
Showcase is planned for 5-7:30 p.m. May 14 at
the Inn at St. John's.
More than 90 exhibitors featuring
Plymouth products and services will be dis-
playing their wares at the event. Many
restaurants will be offering samples of their
menu items and visitors will have a chance
towinmore than 50 door prizes.

Art walk planned inWayne
A docent from the Detroit Institute of Arts
will discuss the Inside/Out exhibits in Wayne
beginning at 6:30 tonight, May 10, at the
Wayne Library. Weather permitting, a tour of
the exhibits in the citywill follow.

Free Day at the DIA for Wayne residents
will be May 20. Residents need only show
proof of city residency to receive four free
passes to the museum at no cost valid that
Sunday.
School budget meetings set
In an effort to provide a clearer under-
standing of the ongoing budget challenges
facing Northville Public Schools for the 2012-
13 school year and beyond, two community
forums being sponsored by the Northville
Board of Education inMay. Themeetings are
scheduled 7-8:30 tonight at Hillside Middle
School and May 14 at Meads Mill Middle
School.
The forums will include a 30-minute pres-
entation, after which board of education
members and district leaders will be avail-
able to meet with participants in small
groups and answer questions.
In addition, representatives from the
Northville Council of PTAs Legislative
Action Network will be on hand to share the
impact of the budget proposal and other
pending legislation.

Legislator meets public
State Rep. Kurt Heise is sponsoring dis-
trict office hours on Monday, May 14 at vari-
ous locations throughout western Wayne
County.
Local residents can meet with Heise from
10-11 a.m. at the Northhville District Library,
212 W. Cady St., Northville; from 1-2 p.m. at
the Wayne Community Center, 4635 Howe
Road, Wayne and from 3-4 p.m. at the
Plymouth District Library, 223 S. Main St.,
Plymouth.
No appointment is necessary during these
officehours.
Bowling event aids animal shelter
A 9-pin No Tap Tournament is planned at
Romulus Lanes beginning at 7:30 p.m. tomor-
row, May 11, to benefit the new Romulus
Animal Shelter.
The event is dedicated to the memory of
Frank Ayers and registration will begin at
6:30 p.m.
The cost is $25 per person which includes
mystery games for both men and women,
snacks and cash prizes. There are only 72
spots available so early registration is sug-
gested. There will also be prizes and a 50/50
raffle.

Mom2MomSale Saturday
AMom2MomSale is planned from1 a.m.
until 1 p.m. Saturday, May 12 at the Wayne
Community Center. Admission is free and
tables for sellers are available to rent for $20.
There will also be a Kids Zone available
during the day.

Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano
will be the guest speaker at the Greater
Romulus Chamber of Commerce Monthly
Business Luncheon at noonMay 15.
The meeting will take place at the cirrus
Room of the Romulus Athletic Center, 35765

Also scheduled during themeeting will be
the installation of new officers and directors
of the chamber.
The cost of the luncheon is $15 for mem-

Glory Dayswill be author's topic
Journalist RichardBakwill present a look
at Detroit's past century, and present the
heroes, criminals and regular people who
contributed to the colorful history of the city
when he discusses his book "Detroitland: A
Collection of Movers, Shakers, Lost Souls
and History Makers from Detroit's Past" at
the Northville District Library at 7 p.m. May
16.

The Wayne High Schools Alumni
Association is planning the 28th Annual All
Class Reunion Banquet for 5-10 p.m. Friday
