NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The Zoning Board of Appeals of the City of Wayne, Michigan, will hold a Public Hearing
on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of Wayne City Hall,
3355 South Wayne Road, to consider the following request:
1.
Julio Leda of Tire Stop Tire Store has applied as the property owner at 32449
Michigan Avenue, Suite A, for permission to install a sign at the property. The
property is located in the I-B, Industrial Business Zoning District. Section 1280.08
(c)(2)(B) of the Planning and Zoning Code requires the maximum wall sign area for
buildings with additional street frontage to not exceed one-half square foot of sign
area for each one lineal foot of building frontage on such additional frontage. The
plans submitted to the Building Department indicate size of the signs to be 81 sq. ft.,
a maximum size of 50 sq. ft. is permitted thereby requiring an 31 sq. ft. variance.
The text and any maps may be examined or written comments may be submitted at the
City Clerk's Office during business hours (10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday).
Members of the public may appear at the public hearing in person or by counsel. At the
conclusion of the Public Hearing, the Zoning Board will consider, and may act upon, this
matter.

2 arrested in Canton for mail fraud
Philharmonic raffle under way
Two suspects have been
arraigned in 35th District Court on
charges including mail fraud fol-
lowing their arrest by Canton
PoliceApril 3.
A resident in the area of Cherry
Hill andBeckRoad called police to
report a suspicious vehicle
approaching mailboxes in the
neighborhood. Police officers
responded to the area and spotted
the vehicle that had been
described.
The responding officers stopped
the vehicle and began questioning
the driver and passenger about
their reason for being in the nearby
subdivision and about reportedly
going into residents' mailboxes.
While being questioned by
police, the driver put the vehicle
into gear and sped off, according to
police reports of the incident.
The officers pursued the suspect
vehicle which fled to a shopping
center parking lot in the area of
Michigan Avenue and Canton
Center, where the driver and pas-
senger both ran from the vehicle.
Officers pursued the pair on foot
and both were arrested. Police
reports said that one of the sus-
pects was tasered during his appre-
hension.
Upon investigation, officers dis-
covered that the suspect vehicle
contained a large number of items
that appeared to be related to crim-
inal activity, according to police
reports. Canton police detectives
investigated the incident with the
assistance of the United States
Postal InspectionUnit.
On April 13, District Court Judge
Michael J. Gerou arraigned Lee
Andrew Qualls, 42, and Herman
Robinson III, 35, on charges stem-
ming fromthe investigation.
Qualls was charged with Second
Degree Fleeing/Eluding a Police
Officer; a 10-year felony;
Stealing/Retaining without Consent
a Financial Transaction Device, a
4-year felony; Larceny Over $1,000
but less than $20,000, a 5-year
felony; Drivers License Forging
with Intent to Commit Crime, a 5-
year felony; Assaulting/Resisting/
Obstructing a Police Officer, a 2-
year felony; Operating Vehicle with
License Suspended/Revoked/
Denied, a 93-daymisdemeanor and
as aHabitual Offender, 4th Offense,
enhanced sentencing.
Robinson was charged with
Assaulting/Resisting/Obstructing a
Police Officer, a 2-year felony and
as a Habitual Offender, 2nd
Offense, enhanced sentencing
Gerou set Qualls' bond at
$500,000 or 10 percent and
Robinson's bond at $50,000 or 10
percent.
The 3rd Annual Michigan Philharmonic
CruiseRaffle grand prize this year is a 12-day
wine cruise with stops in England, Spain,
Portugal and France on the Celebrity
Constellation.
The winning ticket will garner round-trip
air fare and the Sept. 18 through Oct. 1 cruise
for two. The trip is a 12-night Immersive

Vigo, Spain; Porto, Portugal (home of PORT
wines); Bilbao, Spain (Basque country);

Raffle tickets are $50 and only 300 will be
sold.

Northville Night nears
The Turf Club inNorthville has a lofty
goal: $1millionbyMay 1.
To help reach that total, the group has
planned A Night for Northville from 8
p.m. until 12 a.m. April 28 at Northville
Square onMainStreet downtown.
The event will include cocktails and
hors d'oeuvres and live entertainment by
TheRandyBrockGroup.
All proceeds from the event will be
used to fund the installation of artificial
turf and other improvements at the
school Eight Mile Stadium. The group
had collected $720,000 toward the goal by
Jan. 20 and hope to secure the rest of the
needed funding this year.
Tickets for the event are $100 per per-
son and are available at Northville High
School Athletic Department, the
Northville Parks and Recreation office
and the district Board of Education
