The Drug Enforcement
Administration and Northville
Township Police have scheduled
the 8thNational PrescriptionDrug
Take-Back Day from 10 a.m. until 2
p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the
Northville Township Police
Department located at 41600 Six
MileRoad.
“This is a great opportunity for
those who missed the previous
events, or who have subsequently
accumulated unwanted, unused
prescription drugs, to safely dis-
pose of those medications to law
enforcement.
“This initiative addresses a vital
public safety and public health
issue,” noted Northville Township
Director of Public Safety John
Werth.
Medicines that languish in
home cabinets are highly suscepti-
ble to diversion, misuse, and
abuse. Rates of prescription drug
abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly
high-more Americans currently
abuse prescription drugs than the
number of those using cocaine,
hallucinogens, and heroin com-
bined, according to the 2009
National Survey on Drug Use and
Health.
Northville Civic Concern volun-
teers have asked the community
for help in their efforts to feed the
less fortunate in the area.
The group is a beneficiary of the
Simply Give Program sponsored by
the Meijer Store located at Eight
Mile and Haggerty in Northville.
Shoppers are urged to look for the
orange and white Simply Give dis-
plays near the checkout area.
When shoppers purchase a $10
donation card, Meijer matches the
donation to the Civic Concern food
pantry. The current campaign will
continue throughMay 12.
Volunteers said that help is
needed to keep the doors of Civic
Concern open. They have asked
that shoppers purchase one or two
items of food each week and
donate them to the facility. They
also accept donations of grocery
gift cards and cash. Clients who are
job searching are in need of gas
cards so they can get to interviews
and job training programs, a
spokesman said.
Donations are accepted at the
Northville Civic Concern office in
the Highland Lakes Plaza at 46251
Seven Mile Road between 10 a.m.
and 1 p.m. every Monday,
Wednesday and Friday. On other
days, donations are accepted at
Cassel's Restaurant or Worldwide
Alterations also in the Highland
Lakes Plaza. In downtown
Northville, donations may be left at
Genitti's Restaurant, Great Harvest
Bread Company, or the UPS store.
Northville City Hall will also
accept donations for CivicConcern.

The Belleville Area Museum is
still accepting historical informa-
tion about tri-community, current
and defunct, clubs and organiza-
tions for the upcoming May exhib-
it.
Any and all items arewelcome -
handbooks, ledgers, pictures,
favors-- anything that would be
helpful to tell the story of an area
club organization, according to
Katie Dallos, director of the muse-
um.
Donors are welcome to create
their own storyboard and/or exhib-
it panel that would represent the
origins of a group, the makeup or
structure of it, rules/regulations,
dues, and anything else they
would like to include, she said.
Items can also be taken to the
museum where an exhibit repre-
senting the clubwill be created.
Dallos suggested names and
meeting notes of original mem-
bers, old albums collecting dust or
promotional materials from annu-
al events as possible exhibit mate-
rial. A poster board can showcase
all of these items, she said.
Memorabilia will be placed
along the second floor exhibit
space during May and items can
be loaned to the museum for the
exhibit and do not need to be per-
manent donations. Items can be
returned afterOctober, she said.
Dallos suggested individuals
contact the museum at (734) 697-
1944 for more information. The
museum is located at 405 Main St.
