IN, died March 20, 2014.
Mrs. Anderson was born to
William and Elsie Abbott on
April 26, 1921 in Ortonville,
MI.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, John Elmer
Anderson and a sister, Mary
Johnson.
Survivors include her five
daughters,
Beatrice
Anderson,
Jeanne
Niedermeyer, Cindy Berry,
Robin Wright, and Jackie
Foley Noell along with 10
grandchildren and 17 great-
grand children and two
great-great-grand children.
Memorial services took
place at College Park Church
on April 1. In lieu of flowers
the family request donations
to go to Alzheimer's
Foundation of America,

Final arrangements were
entrusted to Indiana Funeral
Care and Crematory.

Student radio station wins top state honor
Starfish joins ‘Legacy’
Emergency food distribution set
The Michigan Association of
Broadcasters Foundation named
88.1 The Park, the student-operat-
ed radio station of the Plymouth
Canton Community Schools
District, High School Station of
theYear. The awardwas present-
ed during the Great Lakes
Broadcasting Conference and
ExpoMarch 12 inLansing.
Fifteen students at Canton,
Plymouth and Salemhigh schools
received 14 of the 24 awards pre-
sented in the high school radio
category.
The students received six first
place awards in the eight cate-
gories.
The students also swept all
three awards in the Sports Play-
by-Play competition.
“Our students made a commit-
ment to submit their very best
work. They wanted to have our
best showing ever and win back
the Station of theYear Award. I'm
so proud of them,” saidBill Keith,
stationmanager.
More than 300 entries from 19
schools in the radio and televi-
sion competition were received.
This is the sixth year in the past
14 that WSDP has been honored
with the Station of the Year
Award.
The Michigan Association of
Broadcasters Foundation is dedi-
cated to promote, support and
enhance the broadcast industry
for the good of all Michigan citi-
zens, through education,
research, public service, histori-
cal preservation, information dis-
semination and a commitment to
diversity in all aspects of the
broadcast industry, according to
themission statement.
WSDP is owned and operated
by the Plymouth-Canton
Community Schools. Students at
Canton, Plymouth and Salem
High Schools serve as staff mem-
bers. 88.1 The Park is celebrating
42 years of serving the Plymouth
andCantonCommunities.
The next distribution of emergency food
by Plymouth Community United Way is
scheduled for 9:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday, April
17.
The Emergency Food Assistance Program
provides low-income Plymouth and
Northville residents with canned, non-per-
ishable andperishable items.
All recipients must pre-register at
Plymouth Community United Way, 960 W.
AnnArbor Trail, Suite 2, Plymouth.
This is a supplemental food program that
may be used in addition to other assistance
programs. Bridge Card holders automatical-
ly qualify, but need to pre-register. Recipients
not currently on governmental assistance
(food stamps, ADCand general) must provide
documentation including proof of income
and residency before receiving food on dis-
tributiondays.
Distributions continue the third Thursday
of each month at St. Kenneth Catholic
Church inPlymouth.

Starfish Family Services (Starfish) has
become a community partner of the
Southeast Michigan program of LEAVE A
LEGACY®. Through their partnership,
Starfish maintains its commitment to the
community by supporting and promoting the
need for individuals to support their favorite
charities through a charitable bequest in
theirwills or estate plans.
Founded in 1997, the Southeast Michigan
program of LEAVE A LEGACY is a public
awareness campaign conducted by the
Planned Giving Roundtable of Southeast
Michigan to inspire people to make charita-
ble bequests, a type of planned gift to be dis-
tributed sometime in the future to a charity
meaningful to the donor. LEAVEALEGACY
is a national broad-based community cam-
paign that involves all types of nonprofit
groups and is conducted by professionals,
who assist donors with charitable estate
planning.
Founded in 1963, StarfishFamily Services
is an Inkster–based nonprofit organization
serving thousands of vulnerable children
and families annually in metro Detroit.
Starfish's passion is early childhood develop-
ment. The organization strives every day to
prepare young children for a successful start
to school. Starfish programs and services
uniquely recognize and respect the impor-
tant role of parents and other caregivers. For

Maybury hosts syrup tours
Maybury Farm is offering sweet
weekend outings for families with the
Maple Syrup Tours every Saturday and
Sunday throughApril 13.
Visitors can enjoy a hayride to the
sugar bush to see how maple trees and
tapped and the sap collected. The sap
will then be taken back to the evapora-
tor in the Sugar Shack and made into
maple syrup. Visitors will be able to par-
ticipate in the process.
Maple syrup will be available for sale
after the tour in theWelcomeCenter.
Tours begin a 1,2 and 3 p.m. each
Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $6
per person and children younger than 2
are admitted at no cost. Visitors should
dresswarmly andwear boots.
Maybury Farm is located at 50165
Eight Mile Road inNorthville about 1 ¼
milewest of BeckRoad and about a half
milewest ofMaybury StatePark.
The farm is operated by the
Northville Community Foundation, a
501 © (3) nonprofit organization. It is a
historic farm that provides interactive
educational opportunities for the pub-
lic. The farm is open to the public
Tuesdays through Sundays beginning in
mid-April.
