in Redford is $47,544 as opposed to
Plymouth Township's $83,561. The
median house or condo in Redford
is valued at $100,005 versus
Plymouth Township at $239,125,
about 139 percentmore.
The majority of our township
voters, informed of the facts, reject-
ed the ballot issue in the recent
election because their petition
request was manipulated by the
Board of Trustees, rending it inac-
curate, and they understood the
board's actions were unconstitu-
tional.
It will be back on the ballot this
August.
Another major difference is the
Redford Township trustees sup-
port their fire department and
appreciate and understand the
importance of maintaining a full
time staff of professional firefight-
er-paramedics. They don't have an
ax to grind.

instructions, but I couldn't get the
door off the stove, despite the
instructions to “pull up and lift
strongly.” Then the glass slid apart.
Then the cat decided to play with
the screws. Then the dogwanted to
help by laying in the middle of the
pile of cleaning rags.
I did the only sensible thing. I
sat down in the middle of it all and
just cried.
Now, I didn't cry because the
stainless steel had slicedmy hands
to ribbons. I seriously thought I
needed stitches at one point when
the gashes and cuts were turning
the kitchen into an abattoir. I didn't
cry when I had to call my other son
to try and help me, either. I didn't
even cry when after three hours, I
still couldn't get the now spotlessly
clean pieces of glass back together
inside the door.
But when I thought about my
daughter-in-law coming home to
themess Imade, I just sobbed.
Later, when I had cleaned up
the mess, and my often-handy
spouse appeared, the two of us
managed to finally wiggle all the
components back into line on the
door using brute force. I evenman-
aged to find out where the cat took
the screws we needed to get the
thing back together.
We did finally get it in operating
condition, although for a while
there, the door wouldn't shut on
the oven.
Later that week, after she got
home and discovered the results of
my effort, I got the kindest, most
loving thank you call in the world
frommy daughter-in-law. Then she
sent me a thank you card with
another kind and touching note.
That's when I sat down and
sobbed again. Like I said, the
thingswe do for love.

Every politician, in an attempt
to curry favor with 'the little guy' or
'common citizen' or 'Joe plumbers'
of theworld, will tell you: “I'mnot a
politician.”
In Abbo's case, that's true. He
was just a guy with a talent for eco-
nomics and building consensus
that wanted to make his communi-
ty a better place.
Well done, and thank you.
