severe deficit predicted for 2014-15.
The city will not make the contribution to
the Retired Lives Medical Coverage system
in an effort to keep $554,673 in the general
fund. The system funds retiree's medical cov-
erage and vision care, life insurance and sick
leave pay outs for current employees.
The city was scheduled to contribute $1.9
million to the Retired Lives Medical
Coverage system this year from the general
fund.
According to city officials, failing to make
the contribution is not a violation of state reg-
ulations or laws.
City council members are expected to
schedule meetings to discuss specific cuts to
ameliorate the deficit spending.
