Fire investigation continues
Construction moves primary voters
Wayne Westland fire investigators
have not yet determined the cause of a
fire at the Village Place Coney Island last
week.
The restaurant, located on Wayne
Road north of Cherry Hill, is the site of
the former Blazo's Pie Shop and is cur-
rently owned by Viktor Beriszj, who also
owns the Country Grill on Wayne Road,
south of CherryHill.
Firefighters were called to the site just
before noon and remained at the scene
until 6 p.m., according to fire department
reports.
The restaurant was closed when the
fire was reported and an employee of a
fire suppression company who arrived to
perform work on the hood ducts saw
smoke coming from the back of the build-
ing. He reported the fire immediately.
Fire Chief Michael Reddy said the
firefighters at the blaze were forced to
cut holes through the bright blue metal
roof to extinguish the fire which was in
the attic space. Reddy said there was no
fire in the main restaurant area but esti-
mated that least 50 percent of the build-
ingwas damaged.
