Pancake benefit is planned
A benefit pancake breakfast sponsored by
the Community Assistance Foundation is
planned for 8-10:30 a.m. March 2 at Romulus
Community United Methodist Church, 11160
OliveSt. inRomulus.
The breakfast has been planned by the
501 c 3 organization to help the family of
Nikki Spicer Kuta who died last month after
a 2-year battle with cancer. The medical bills
have left the family in a difficult financial
position and inneed of help. Mrs. Kuta is sur-
vived by her husband, Justin, a son, Blake, 16
and a daughter, Emmalyn, 2.

The Adult Winter Reading Program at the
Romulus Library, Hot Reads for ColdNights,
is currently under way and will continue

For every book read, participants will be
entered into a weekly drawing for prizes.

Snowman contest under way
Plymouth residents can now enter the
annual snowman photo contest sponsored by
the parks and recreationdepartment.
To enter, participants should build a snow-
man, dress him up, and take a picture, then
drop-off the picture at the City of Plymouth
Recreation Office or email it to Lauren at
lobsniuk@ci.plymouth.mi.us [mailto:lob-
sniuk@ci.plymouth.mi.us].
Photos must be received, along with the
child's name, address, phone number and
email address of the person submitting the
picture before 4:30 p.m. March 1.
Judging will take place the week of March
4th and thewinner will be announcedMarch

Tax assistance is available by appoint-
ment only every Wednesday through April 3
at the Wayne Community Center, 4635 Howe

Fish fries planned
First United Methodist Church of Wayne
will host Friday Fish Fries from 4: 30 -7 p.m.
untilMarch 22.
Fish dinner includes baked or fried fish,
baked potato or French fries, vegetable, Cole
slaw and a roll. Children's meals are also
available, with nuggets or one piece of fish,
French fries, vegetable slaw and a roll. Cost
is $9 for adults and $4 for children. Home
made pies are also available for $1 a slice.
The church is located at 3 Town Square,
Wayne Michigan across from the Wayne Post
office. The church is handicap accessible.

Lenten Fish Fries planned
St. Aloysius Catholic Church will host all-
you-can-eat Fish Fries from 4:30 until 7 p.m.
every Friday during Lent, continuing March
1, 8, 15 and 22.
Dinners include fried fish, macaroni and
cheese, seasoned potatoes or French fries,
green beans, Cole slaw, dinner roll, dessert
and a beverage.
Adult dinners are $8, children 10 and
younger $4 and those younger than 3 eat free
withan adult dinner purchase.
Carry out dinners are $8.

Legislator setsmeetings
Bricks 4 Kidz set
Get ready for lots of building and fun with
motorized models that rock, roll and spin.
Childrenwill follow step by stepmodel plans
to create and learn about two favorite Bricks
4 Kidz vehicles. The children will also be
able to explore setting his or her creations in
motion using LEGO® wireless remote con-
trols. Young builders from 5-9 will experi-
ence the hands-on fun of seeing a model
come together piece by piece fromconcept to
completion. The project instructions tap into
both the visual and kinesthetic learning
styles ofmany children.
Theworkshop is planned from9 a.m. until
noon on March 2. The fee is $50 or $35 for
City of Plymouth residents.

Study training sessions scheduled
Frog and Toad Survey training sessions
for those interested in monitoring the health
of the Rouge River will take place during the
month of March. Four area training sessions
have been planned including the first at
Northville Township Hall from 10 a.m. until
noon onMarch 2. A session is also planned at
Summit on the Park in Canton from 7-9 p.m.
March 5. A third session is planned from 10
a.m. until noon March 9 at Farmington Hills
City Hall and the final sessionwill take place
from 7-9 p.m. March 13 at the E.L. Johnson
NatureCenter inBloomfieldHills.
Each training session will focus on frog
and toad identification skills in order to help
volunteers determine different species out in
the field.
Frogs and toads are considered excellent
indicators of the environmental quality. The
more species a site can support, the better
thehabitat.
Training sessions are open to anyone,
child or adult, who is concerned about the
environment andwants to play an active role
in monitoring its health. The sessions are
free and pre-registration is required. To reg-

An evening of “Old Time Rock 'N
Roll,” featuring Steve King and the
Dittilies and tasty fare from area restau-
rants is being planned by members of the
Partnership for Arts and Humanities in
Canton Township. The fundraiser will
begin at 7 p.m. March 2 at The Village
Theater at CherryHill.
The event will benefit the Partnership
for the Arts and Humanities, a local non-
profit organization dedicated to support-
ing the growth of cultural arts in the
Canton community.
This fundraiser will begin with a
