Notice is hereby given that the City of Romulus will hold a public hearing at
7:00 p.m. on
Wednesday, March 2, 2016
for the purpose of considering a variance request. The public hearing
will be held at the Romulus City Hall Council Chambers, 11111 Wayne Road, Romulus MI 48174-
1485.
The Board of Zoning Appeals has set the public hearing to consider the following variances for the
construction of a new single-family residence:
1.
Side Yard Setback Variance.
A variance from Section 3.07(a), Schedule of Regulations, RCO,
Rural Character Overlay District of the Zoning Ordinance is requested to allow an 18-foot side
setback; a side setback of 20 feet is required.
2.
Floor Area Variance.
A variance from Section 3.07(a), Schedule of Regulations, RCO, Rural
Character Overlay District of the Zoning Ordinance is requested to allow the floor area of a new
residence to be 1,296 sq. ft.; the minimum floor area required is 1,500 sq. ft.

Copies of the application are available for review at City Hall during regular business hours. All
interested parties are encouraged to attend and will be given an opportunity to comment on said

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) PROGRAM
FY 2016/2017
Pursuant to Federal guidelines, the City of Romulus is announcing its objectives and possible uses
for developing projects using Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding and is
scheduling a Public Hearing on Monday,
February 22, 2016 at 7:00 pm
for the purpose of receiv-
ing comments or suggestions regarding projects for the fiscal year 2016/2017 COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) Program. The CITY OF ROMULUS expects to
receive an ESTIMATED $168,250.
The primary objectives of the Federal HUD CDBG program are to assist low to moderate
income families directly or to provide benefits in areas where 51% of the residents are low to mod-
erate income, such as replacing the urban infrastructure of streets, preserving deteriorating housing,
improving recreational facilities and programs and assisting in meeting special needs of the elderly
and physically disabled.
Pending actual funding availability, the City proposes to carry out the following eligible
activities with the respective estimated amounts.

B. Benefitting Low and Moderate Income Limited Clientele (LMC) Persons
C. Addressing Slums and Blight or Low and Moderate Income Housing Benefit

Association will host the 2016 Hometown
Hero Awards on Friday, April 15, when the
honorees for this yearwill be named.
Tipping Point Theatre is nowaccepting
submissions of 10-minute plays for the
Sandbox Play Festival, part of Northville
Arts andActs.
The festival is designed to encourage
and increase exposure for Michigan the-
ater artists. Tipping Point will also be
searching for actors and directors looking
for opportunities to "get in the sand" and
work on creating new theater. The festival
is an opportunity for actors, directors and
playwrights looking to showcase their
work.
Submitted materials must include the
name, full address, phone number and or
e-mail of the author, along with one copy
of the script.
Playwrights or plays that have specific
ties toMichigan are givenpreference.
Submissions must be e-mailed or post-
marked no later than April 1, and submit-
tedpageswill not be returned.
Plays must be original and those that
have received staged readings or work-
shops are eligible. Submissions must have
a running time of less than 15 minutes.
There is a cast limit of four.
No adaptation, collaborations, or musi-
calswill be eligible.
The exact number of plays presented at
the festival depends on available space,
time, and production requirements after
the selection of the topprizes.
The first place winner will receive $100
and the second place winner will be
awarded $50. There will also be an
Audience Favorite award and Honorable
Mention award announced during the
SandboxPlayFestival last performance.

Rosie Chapman, a.k.a. Miz Rosie, is a
teacher, performing artist, author and
school social worker who appears before
audiences of all ageswith storytelling. Her
interactive performances are educational
and entertaining.
Miz Rosie will share the story of Civil
Rights activist Rosa Parks during the per-
formance.
The Guidance Center will also be in
attendance from 5:30-7:30 p.m. with infor-
mation about early literacy, free giveaways
and sending every child home with a free
book.
The program is for ages 4 and older
and no registration is required. For more

The second Romulus Black History
Bus Tour will leave Romulus City Hall at
4:30 p.m. Feb. 29.
The second year for this event, tour-
goers will make stops around the city
highlighting Romulus' rich history includ-
ing sites that were locations for the
Underground Railroad and others that
were important to the Civil Rights move-
ment within the city.
The bus will leave from the city hall
parking lot and is expected to take about
twohours.
Anyone wishing to attend should regis-

to a first-come, first-serve basis.
