Children's concert Saturday
The Swingset Mamas, a nation-
ally known music group that won
a 2011 Parent Choice Award, will
appear in concert at 1:30 and
again at 3 p.m. Jan. 19 at the
Northville High School auditori-

Flu shots available
TheWayne County Department
of Public Health has lowered the
price of flu vaccinations to $5 for
the duration of flu season.
Medicare Part B and Medicaid
are accepted and eligible young-
sters are also covered under the
Vaccine for Childrenprogram.

Theater auditions are Sunday
The Plymouth Community Arts
Council will host open auditions
for the youth theater group,
Plymouth Uptown Players (PUPS)
from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20. If
actors cannot audition on Sunday,
they may call (734) 416-4278 to
make other arrangements.
Children in kindergarten
through second grade should
arrive between 1 and 1:45; audi-
tions for third to fifth grades will
take place from 2 until 2:45 and
tryouts for sixth through eighth
grade students will take place
from3:30 until 5 p.m.
Actors should come with a
short monologue (one minute or
less) to read for their audition.
The director will also have pieces
to read. Everyone who auditions
will have a part in the play.
The cost is $150 per actor, with
a 10 percent discount for addi-
tional siblings registered for the
same season. An arts council
membership is also required.

The arts council building is locat-
ed at 774 N.Sheldon Road in
Plymouth.
Rehearsals take place Sunday
afternoons through the April per-
formance day.
The Winter 2013 season will be
directed by staff from Northville's
TippingPointeTheatre.
Vintage electronics on display
The Michigan Antique Radio
Club will sponsor a Vintage
Electronics Expo and sale from 9
a.m. until 2 p.m. Jan. 19 at the
Costick Activity Center in
Farmington. The Costick Center is
located at 28600 West 11 Mile
Road between Middlebelt and
Inkster roads.
This is a road show for col-
lectible electronics. There will be
free appraisals and well as
sources for repair and restoration
of vintage radios. Antique radio
sets and electronics items includ-
ing partswill be on sale.
General admission is $5 for
adults and children younger than
14 are admitted at no cost.

14th Annual Business community
Networking Mixer planned for 6-8
p.m. Jan. 22 at The Avenue
Banquet Hall. The event provides
an opportunity for business own-
ers to network with area vendors,
includes a membership recogni-
tion, music and a deluxe buffet
dinner.
Admission for chamber mem-
bers is $20 and $25 for non-mem-
bers. Vendor display tables are
free for members and will cost
non-members $15 to rent.

Monarchs to be topic
Metamorphosis, the life story of
the Monarch Butterfly, will be the
topic at the 7 p.m. Jan. 16 meeting
of the Southeast Michigan
ButterflyAssociation (SEMBA).
There will be a film about the
beauty and design of butterflies
and a visit to the overwintering
grounds in Mexico of Monarch
butterflies. The meeting will take
place at Nankin Mills Nature

High School Drama Club produc-
tion, Game Show. Tickets are $5

adventures of the show staff
responsible for producing King of
theMountain.

Yoga classes offered
Adult Slow Flow Yoga for ages
18 and older will be offered by the
Plymouth
Recreation
Department.
The classes are multi-level and
designed to improve posture and
balance, develop body awareness,
increase strength and flexibility
and relieve stress. The class will
incorporate a gentle flow of move-
ment and breath with a focus on
form and body awareness. Each
class will end with a guided medi-
tation and relaxation.
Students should bring a yoga
mat, blanket (optional for end of
class relaxation) and wear com-
fortable clothing.
The class fee is $90 or $75 for
City of Plymouth residents.
Classes will be offered on both
Friday andWednesdaymornings.
