“The audition really consisted of learning some pretty
simple routines. What they (talent scouts) wanted to see was
how much personality you could put into it,” Simcheck said.
She has been studying dance for nearly 15 years at both the
American Dance Academy in South Lyon and the Academy
of RussianClassical Ballet inNovi.
In addition to working at the salon with her mom,
Simcheck taught dance classes in both Northville and South
Lyon. One of the most difficult parts of her move was giving
up her students who range from 2 ½ to adults learning
Zumba.
Her family is very supportive of her move, including sis-
ters, Valerie, 16 andVanessa, 12.
She said that Valerie has already announced her intent to
follow in her big sister's footsteps as she is also an avid dance
student and interested in an entertainment career. Vanessa
also takes dance lessons, but Simcheck said it's too early for
her to decide just yet.
“It's bittersweet,” Jessie Simcheck said. “Victoria has been
home schooled, like all my girls, and has worked here with
me in the salon, so we're very close. But she's been raised to
be independent and strong and we know she'll be fine. She's
somature and self-sufficient, and this is her dream.”
Simcheck said that she is excited about the job. She will
complete her training and will be on the schedule, working
in the park, by next week, shehopes.
“I can't wait. I just hope I can inspire lots of little girls to reach for their dreams, I like I did. And, here I am,” she said.
