Flipping out
Lions Club and Foundation serve pancakes to aid youth
Members of the Canton Lions Club
and Foundation are hard workers with
big hearts.
“It's a great bunch of men and
women who are really concerned
about children,” said John Anthony,
president of the Canton Lions Club
Foundation. The Foundation will pres-
ent a Pancake Breakfast 8-11 a.m.
Saturday, June 16, at the Heritage Park
Pavilion during the Canton Liberty
Fest.
“It's been a tradition. It is a way we
can give back to the community,” said
Anthony, a retired FBI agent, who also
serves as a trustee on the Canton
Townshipboard.
“If you ever met one of these kids, it
breaks your heart,” he said. “It's a labor
of love.” Anthony and his wife have two
grown children and four grandchil-
dren, ages 4 to 14.
Having healthy children and grand-
children reminds Anthony of the key
work of Lions International andCanton
Lions to help children with vision and
hearing problems. Most referrals for
help come through schools, he said.
“It's not because they're not bright
enough. It's because they can't see or
hear the teacher,” Anthony said.
