Spaghetti dinner moves to tent this year

Those looking for the annual A.M.

Rotary Club Spaghetti Dinner this year

will find it in a covered tent behind

E.G. Nick's restaurant on Forest Street

rather than pushed into a corner of

              KelloggPark.

Due to the overwhelming success of

the dinner and the unpredictability of

the weather, organizers of the event

decided to move into the tent this year.

              Another advantage of the move,

              according to Rotary Past President

              Kate Rosevear, who started the

              spaghetti dinner about seven years

ago, is the ability of to offer a drive-up

              carry out service this year.

“People can just drive up through

the parking lot off Harvey and we will

have the dinners ready to go,” she said.

“We think it will be a big improve-

              ment.”

              The other advantage is outwitting

              MotherNature.

“When the weather was good, we

would do between 800 to 1,000 dinners.

If the weather was bad, forget it,

nobody wanted to sit in the rain and

eat dinner,” she said. “With this tent,

which seats 200 comfortably, we don't

have to worry about it. The event will

              go on, rain or shine.”

The dinner will take place from 4-8

p.m. Saturday, Sept 7 and immediately

following, E.G. Nick's will show the

              Michigan vs. Notre Dame football

game on a 12-foot screen in the outdoor

area. “This is great,” Rosevear said,

“People come a little later for dinner

and stay and watch the game. There is

no cover charge for the game for those

              with spaghetti dinner tickets.

              The dinners include spaghetti with

a choice of Italian meat or marinara
