Poker games aid Lions' efforts
Members of the Canton Lions
Club will be located at 3 Kings
Poker Room at 8669 N. Lilley Road
(south of Joy) in Canton from noon
until 2 a.m. Nov. 11-13 selling poker
chips to individuals who play
Texas Hold 'Em and other games.
Funds raised during the three days
will provide funds to Penrickton
Center for Blind and handicapped
children, Leader Dog School for
the blind and local residents who
are unable to purchase necessities
of life. Funds to purchase eye glass-
es for school children and elderly
people who require visual and
hearing aids are also included.

Benefit soup supper planned
The 3rd annual benefit soup
supper, Have a Heart for Hunger
will take place from 4-7 p.m. Nov.
12 atNorthvilleHighSchool.
All proceeds from the event go
to keep the Kids Against Hunger
program funded within Northville
Elementary Schools and partner
schools, allowing children to help
out hungry families in their own
community as well as worldwide
by packaging highly nutritious, life-
savingmeals.
The soup supper will take place
in the school cafeteria in between
the Northville High School Drama
Club 2 and 7 p.m. performances of
the family holiday classic, It's a
Wonderful Life. Northville area
restaurants are donating many
homemade soups, breads and
desserts. Participating restaurants
include: Table 5, Panera Bread,
Claddagh Irish Pub, Stone House
Coffee, Edwards Cafe, Hiller's, Red
Pepper Deli, LakeStreet Tavern,
The Rusty Bucket, Brick's, Poole's
Tavern, Zoup!, Buckminsters,
LeGeorge, Meadowbrook Country
Club and Walnut Creek Country
Club. Rolls and bread to go along
are being donated by Schoolcraft
College and Great Harvest Bread
Co.
A dessert bar with homemade
baked goods and cupcakes is being
donatedbyTheCupcakeStation.
Advance tickets for the Have a
Heart for Hunger soup supper are
priced at $30 for a family, $10 for an
adult and $5 for children 6-12.
Children younger than 5 are admit-
ted at no cost.

The Michigan Philharmonic
will present Musica de las
Americas, a concert of sounds from
the United States and Latin

Medicare changes discussed
The Senior Alliance will spon-
sor a seminar on Medicare Part D
open enrollment changes from
12:30 until 2 p.m. on both Nov. 21
andDec. 2 in Inkster.
Medicare recipients are urged
to bring their Medicare card and
all prescriptions for a free consul-
tation with a counselor who can
enroll seniors in aMedicare Part D
plan, apply for Medicare Savings
Program for Medicare Part B,
apply for the Extra Help Program
for Medicare Part D and answer
Medicare questions.
