Festival of Trees entries accepted
Entries are now being accepted
for the Belleville Area Historical
Museum Festival of Trees.
Community organizations, individu-
als, and businesses display lighted,
decorated trees or wreaths at the
museum which has become a focal
point of the community's holiday cel-
ebration, according to Museum
Director Katie Dallos. This year the
festival will take place from Nov. 20
throughDec. 29.
Entries must supply their own
artificial tree, a tree stand, lights,
decorations, tree skirt, and a decora-
tive sign which displays the name of
the organization
In addition to displaying a tree,
the museum and historical society
offer the option of donating a fully
decorated tree for auction. Those
interested in participating in the
silent auction, should call the muse-
um at (734) 697-1944 or Email at
kdallos@provide.net. The entry
deadline isNov. 9.

CornMaze open at Maybury
The Corn Maze at Maybury Farm
is nowopen.
Visitors take a 15-minute ride
through the woods to the large corn
maze where they walk through the
corn stalks and play the search
game.
The maze is open weekends only
through Nov. 4. The $5 fee includes
visits to the animal barns and there
are farm fresh eggs and honey, both
produced at the farm, on sale in the
Welcome Center. The educational
playground is also open for children.

Eight Mile between Beck and
Napier (continue ½ mile past the
state park entrance on the south
side of Eight Mile). More informa-

Seniors host bingo
The Wayne Golden Hour Club
hosts bingo on the second and fourth
Thursday of each month. The games
are the primary source of fund-rais-
ing for the group. Proceeds are used
to offset the cost of hosting holiday
parties, which are open to all sen-
iors.
Doors open at 12:40 p.m. and
bingo continues from 1-4 p.m.
Refreshments are available for pur-
chase.
The upcoming dates are Nov. 8
andDec. 13.

Seniors host craft shoe
The Sumpter Township Seniors
will host a craft show at the
Community Center, 23501 Sumpter
Road from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Nov. 2
and 3.
The event is open to the public
and there is no admission fee.
Mothers' Club lights on sale
TheMothers' Club of Northville is
now offering symbolic tree lights for
sale. The commemorative lights are
purchased in memory or honor of
an individual and will be included
on the display board in Town
Square on Main Street during the
Illumination Ceremony at 6:30 p.m.
Dec. 1.
The club has donated more than
$20,000 to Northville Public Schools
for academic enrichment and com-
munity outreach.
Donations for the lights range
from $5 to $100. Checks, payable to
the Mothers' Club of Northville, can
be mailed to Lori Schafer, 15938 Cog
Hill Dr., Northville, 48168.
Feather party planned
St. Aloysius Church Ushers Club
will host Feather Party Bingo begin-
ning at 7 p.m. Nov. 2 at 37200 Neville
St. inRomulus.
Doors at the parish activity cen-
ter in the school building will open
at 5:30 p.m.
A dozen paper games are $12 per
packed and bingo prizeswill include
gift certificates for chickens and
turkeys.
Raffle tickets will be available for
a grand prize of a turkey and gift
basket with all the trimmings and or
one of 20 turkey gift certificates.

'Quarter Auction Friendzy' planned
The Canton Newcomers and
Neighbors group is planning a
Quarter Auction Friendzy at 7 p.m.
Nov. 8 at the Plymouth Elks Club,
41700AnnArborRoad inPlymouth.
The auction will follow a brief
generalmeeting.
Bids on donated items will range
from one to six quarters and food,
drink and cookies will be available
for purchase. The cost is $5 for one
paddle, $7 for two paddles and $8 for
three paddles.
Therewill be a drawing for bring-
ing a non-member guest and for
those purchasing three paddles.
There will also be a 50-50 raffle and
all proceeds will benefit the Canton
Newcomers andNeighbors.

Benefit comedy night set
Project 2 Improv Troupe will
present "Laughs for Leukemia" a
benefit for Montez Scott at 8 p.m.

Children'sChristmasWorkshop set
The Northville Historical Society
will sponsor the 34th Annual
Children's Christmas Workshop
Saturday, Dec. 1 in the New School
Church atMill RaceVillage
Children in grades 1-6 are invited
to participate in the opportunity to
make seven old fashioned, hand-
made gifts for the special people on
their Christmas lists. The intent of
the workshop is to surprise family
members with the gifts that the chil-
dren have worked on and made
themselves.
There will be a morning session
from10 a.m. until noon and an after-
noon session from1 to 3 p.m., accom-
modating 150 children total.
Enrollment is $20 per child.
Payable by cash or check made out
to theNorthvilleHistorical Society.

Friday in November at 218 W.

suddenly on Oct. 22, 2012.

his life and cherish his mem-

Main Street in Plymouth, Old Navy
in Canton Township and Kmart in
Belleville. They join returning

Market, Hiller's Country Market,
Kmart, Kroger, Starbucks and the
U.S. Post Office, with kettles in
Plymouth as well as Kroger, Sam's
Club, JCPenney, Holiday Market
and Walgreen's in Canton and
Walmart inBelleville andCanton.
Old Navy will also be collecting
donated new clothing to be distrib-
uted to families in need of assis-
tance during theholidays.
Individuals can also volunteer
to staff red kettles at storefronts
throughout the area. Volunteers
are needed to ring bells and collect
donations from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
throughDec. 24.
The Red Kettle campaign is
truly a holiday tradition in this
area and one that brings the true
spirit of the holiday to both the one
donating a few coins or dollars and
the one receiving themuch-needed
help.
As always, donations are far
more important than you may
know and mean far more than you
realize. No matter how much or
how little, your contributions can
make a real difference in the lives
of your neighbors.
