Library to entertain preschoolers
Registration is under way for the Let'sHave
Fun Preschool Story Hour program that
begins in October at the Romulus Public
Library, 11121WayneRoad.
The program is open to children who are at
least 3 years old. Each childmust be accompa-
niedby an adult.
The program is offered at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesdays and 1 p.m.Wednesdays.
The program is free, but advanced registra-
tion is required. The library is open fromnoon
to 8 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays
andnoon to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

Spookymonsters visit VanBuren
Van Buren Township will host the Gordon
Russ Spooky Monster Show at 3 p.m. Oct. 30 at
TownshipHall.
The cost is $2 per person and those of all
ages are encouraged to wear scary, cute or
funny Halloween costumes and enjoy the
magic with magician Gordon Russ. The show
is about 45minutes long.
Children can make spooktacular crafts and
light refreshments will be served after the
show.

Information and flu shots offered
The Inkster Task Force and the Inkster
Senior Services will host an Information
Forum and Flu Shot Clinic from 11 a.m. until
1:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Dozier Recreation
Complex.
There will be information about programs,
updates on Medicare, information about drug
interaction dangers, a flu shot clinic which is
free with Medicare Part B, lunch and door
prizes.

Township collects hazardouswaste
Van Buren Township will host a household
hazardous waste collection from 9 a.m. until 2
p.m. Oct. 29 at 49350N. I-94 ServiceDrive.

RACor Treat inRomulus
The Romulus Athletic Center will be the
site of RAC or Treat from 6 until 9:30 p.m. Oct.
30.
The Devil's Night entertainment will
include Halloween-themed games, contests,
giveaways, cider and donuts along with swim-
ming, rock climbing and other 'spooky' fun.
Admission is $1 for Romulus residents and
$5 for non-residents of the city. RAC members
will be admitted at no cost.

Trunk or Treat event planned
The annual family-friendly Trunk or Treat
event is set for 6-7 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Van
Buren Township Recreation Center parking
lot.
Trunk or Treat is an alternative to door-to-
door trick or treating.
Local business representatives will gather
and park their decorated vehicles in the
department parking lot with their trunks filled
with candy and treats.
The event is free and open to all ages. No
pre-registration is necessary.

Newcomers plan holiday event
The Canton Newcomers and Neighbors
club will host the third annual Holiday
Extravaganza from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at the
Sunflower Clubhouse, 45800HanfordRoad.
The event is a fundraiser and will include
multiple vendors selling items for gifts.
The event is free and open to the public.
Ushers host bingo party
The St. Aloysius Ushers Club will host
Feather Party Bingo beginning at 5 p.m. Nov. 4
at 37200NevilleSt. inRomulus.
The doors will open at 5 p.m. and bingo
games will begin at 7 p.m. Bingo prizes are gift
certificates for chickens and turkeys and raffle
tickets will be available for the grand prize of a
turkey and gift basket withall the trimmings.
Papers games are $12 for a packet of 12 and
three paper quickies are available for $1.

Chamber sets dinner, auction
The Plymouth Community Chamber of
Commerce will host the 22nd Annual Meeting,
Dinner and Gala Auction beginning at 6 p.m.
Nov. 4 at LaurelManor inLivonia.
Tickets are now on sale for the event which
will feature Dick Purtan as the emcee for the
evening. Tickets are $75 per person and
include dinner, dancing and auctions.

The annual Women's Expo will take place
from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Summit

More than 40 vendors will be on hand offer-
ing products and services.
The event is free, but $10 advance tickets
include a continental breakfast, a premium
goody bag, health screenings and added raffle
prize tickets. No tickets will be sold at the
door.

I HateHamlet is presented
The Spotlight Players will present I Hate
Hamlet, a love story, ghost story and comedy
theweekends ofNov. 11-13 and 18-20.
The story is performed with audience seat-
ing on three sides and the content is adult so it

Curtain time is 8 p.m. Nov. 11, 12, 18 and 19
and at 2 p.m. Nov. 13 andNov. 20.

Benefit soup supper planned
The 3rd annual benefit soup supper, Have a
Heart for Hunger will take place from 4-7 p.m.
Nov. 12 atNorthvilleHighSchool.
All proceeds from the event go to keep the
Kids Against Hunger program funded within
Northville Elementary Schools and partner
schools, allowing children to help out hungry
families in their own community as well as
worldwide by packaging highly nutritious, life-
savingmeals.
The soup supper will take place in the
school cafeteria in between the Northville
HighSchool DramaClub 2 and 7 p.m. perform-
ances of the family holiday classic, It's a
Wonderful Life.
Northville area restaurants are donating
many homemade soups, breads and desserts.
Participating restaurants include: Table 5,
Panera Bread, Claddagh Irish Pub, Stone
House Coffee, Edwards Cafe, Hiller's, Red
Pepper Deli, LakeStreet Tavern, The Rusty

Advance tickets for the Have a Heart for
Hunger soup supper are priced at $30 for a
family, $10 for an adult and $5 for children 6-
12. Children younger than 5 are admitted at no
cost.
