Art entries sought
Entries are now being accepted for the
8thannual BellevilleCommunityArt Show.
The exhibit will take place Oct. 27
through 29 at the Belleville Yacht Club
(BYC) and is organized by the Belleville
AreaCouncil for theArts.
Entry forms are available at the
Belleville Area District Library, the
Belleville Area Chamber of Commerce, the
Belleville Yacht Club, Garden Fantasy on
Main, the Professional Building, Sumpter
Ace Hardware, Twisted Rooster and at Van
BurenTownshipHall.
There are adult, teen and children's cat-
egories and cashprizes are available.

$25,000 raffle under way
Tickets for the second annual Northville
Educational Foundation $25,000 Cash For
CollegeRaffle are nowavailable.
Tickets are priced at $50 each, or three
for $100. Proceeds from the raffle benefit
the Northville Educational Foundation
and the 7,300 students in the district. If
ticket sales total less than $50,000, the prize
will revert to a 50/50 drawing with a mini-
mumof a $1000 prize.
The drawing will take place at about
7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at downtown the
Northville Tree Lighting Ceremony in the
town square just after the Holiday Lighted
Parade. Ticket holders need not be present
towin.
Tickets will be sold until the start of the
parade Nov. 17, or until all 1500 tickets are
sold, whichever comes first. Purchasers
must be 18 or older.

Health Fair vendors sought
The Romulus Senior Center Annual
Health Fair is now accepting vendors for
the event planned forOct. 10.
Health professionals can highlight their
companies with the senior community.
Table space rental is $100. Gifts to be raf-
fled off are also being sought.
Set up will begin at 9 a.m. and the fair
will be open from9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Library Storytimes begin
Storytimes are planned for September
and October at the Belleville District
Library.
Family Storytimes will take place at 6:30
p.m. Mondays for children ages 4-10; Fall
Tuesday "Toddler Times" are planned for
11 a.m. for children ages 2-4 and Fall
Thursday "Toddler Times" will take place
at 11 a.m.

The Romulus Public Library will host
Family Story Time at 6:30 p.m. on

Movie andPizza Party planned
TheRomulusDistrict Librarywill host a
Teen/Tween Movie and Pizza Party at 1
p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30. The movie will be
Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2. The movie
is ratedPG-13 for those ages 11 and older.

Philharmonic opens season
The Michigan Philharmonic will opens
a new season on Saturday, Sept. 30 at the
Village Theater in Canton with "A Bit of
Beethoven&Blue Jeans".
This 2017-18 concert series themed Arts
Advocacy, highlights the Michigan
Philharmonic commitment to community
and diversity as the orchestra features
music by composers fromdifferent cultural
backgrounds, as well as inviting local
artists and various youth groups to collabo-

Church hosts festival and craft show
St. John's Episcopal Church will host a
festival from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. and craft
show from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday,
Sept. 30.
Attractions include a bounce house,
beer tent, food vendors, bake sale and
silent auction.
There will be live entertainment from 2-
10 p.m.

CemeteryWalk is planned
This year, the Annual Wayne Historical
Cemetery Walk is planned from 1-3 p.m.
Oct. 1.
This is the 4th Annual Cemetery Walk
sponsored by the Wayne Historical Society
and will take place in St. Mary Cemetery
located on Michigan Avenue and Howe
Road inWayne.
Visitors can walk through the cemetery,
enjoy cider and donuts as guides highlight
the history of the burial ground and intro-
duce many of the historical figures buried
there.
This year, visitors will learn about a
World War I soldier, a Wayne midwife, sev-
eral farm families, the founding families of
St. Mary Church, Civil War soldiers and
well-known first businessmen.
The walk is free and no tickets are
required although voluntary donations will
be accepted and arewelcome.
Parking will be available on Josephine
Street, just east of the cemetery in the park-
way leading toDynamitePark.

Garden club to discuss trees
The Romulus Garden Club will host
Frank Kalinski discussing trees as part of
the speaker series at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 2.

Chocolate Affair tickets on sale
The 13th annual "A Chocolate Affair" is
planned for 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1 at the
Italian American Banquet Center, 38200
FiveMileRoad inLivonia.
The event is presented by the Ladies
Ancient Order of Hibernians, Elizabeth
Fagan Division and all funds raised will
benefit First Step, a program for counsel-
ing and emergency housing for victims of
domestic violence and sexual assault and
their families.
The event includes an afternoon of tast-
ing chocolate specialties from area restau-
rants, bakeries, caterers and chocolate
makers. There will be a raffle and door
prizes.
Tickets for the event are $30 andmay be

and Wayne as well as through the Ladies

Diamond of Community honored
The Wayne Commission on Aging mem-
bers have chosen Pat Rice as the winner of
the 2017 Diamond of the Community
Award.
Rice will be honored at a recognition
dinner at 6 p.m. Oct. 3 at the HYPE recre-
ation center followed by a city council pres-
entation.

of care available, Michigan senior resi-
dence options and resources and how to
recognize elder abusewarning signs.

NorthvilleCemeteryWalk set
The Leaders and Legends of Northville
will be discussed during the Northville
CemeteryWalk 2017 set for 2-5 p.m. Sunday,
Oct. 8 at Rural Hill Cemetery.
The cemetery is located off Seven Mile
Road between Center and Rogers streets.
Visitors are asked to park in the lot at the
front of the cemetery.
Tickets are priced at $10 for members of
the historical society or $15 for non-mem-
