Mystery on TippingPoint stage
The Mystery of Irma Vep by Charles

Car show is Sunday
The 17th Annual Don Rochon Memorial
Car Show is planned from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
this Sunday at the Sumpter Fairgrounds in
Belleville.
On exhibit will be classic and custom street
rods, trucks and motorcycles. There will be
door prizes and the demolition derby will
begin at 4 p.m. Admission to the derby is $12
for adults and $4 for children.

Vendors for expo sought
Preparations are under way for the 2011
Women's Expo in Canton and organizers are
seeking vendors for the event. Local mer-
chants with a product or service targeted
specifically toward women can exhibit at the
upcoming event from9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Nov. 12
at the Summit on the Park, located at 46000
Summit Parkway inCanton.
Organizers said hundreds of women attend
the popular shopping event and unique and
locallymade items arewelcome.
Vendor applications will be accepted
through Sept. 30. Start-up companies are
encouraged to apply.

Call for Crafters
The Delta Kappa Gamma Education
Society will host the annual juried Handmade
Only Craft Show on from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 15, at West Middle School in
Plymouth.
Last year, the event attracted more than
1,500 customers.
Food will be available for purchase and
drawings for prizes are planned.

Veterans to host ceremony
The Vietnam Veterans of America,
Westland Chapter 387, will host a POW/MIA
Ceremony at Westland City Hall at 6 p.m.
tomorrow, which is National POW/MIA
RecognitionDay.
The ceremony will honor all of the
Michigan POW/MIA's from all wars. The event
is open to the public.
Religions inAmerica is topic
The 5th annual Religions in America series
will take place from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sept. 17
at the Western Campus of the Wayne County
Community College District, 9555 Haggerty
Road inBelleville.
The speakers will discuss cultural compe-
tency and understanding the cultural and reli-
gious diversity of friends andneighbors.

City garage sale Saturday
More than 100 sellers will be on hand at the
Westland Community Garage Sale from 9 a.m.
until 4 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot

Run for theRouge set
Friends of the Rouge will host the 2nd
Annual Run for the Rouge run/walk along the
Rouge River for runners, walkers and anyone
who cares about the river beginning at 9 a.m.
Sept. 17.
Registration for the 3.1 mile run/walk is
available on the Friends of the Rouge website
at www.therouge.org. Volunteers are also
needed to help support the runners and walk-
ers.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. at Connection
Church, 3855 South Sheldon Road in Canton
for the 9 a.m. start. The run is timed and prizes
will be awarded to the top female and male
finishers and the most pledges. Participants
will be entered into a post-run raffle (must be
present towin) and are eligible to enter the lot-
tery for theMackinacBridgeLaborDayRun.
Sorority sponsors collegiate fair
The Annual Black Collegiate Fair, hosted by
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc, Zeta Nu Zeta
Inkster Alumnae Chapter will take place from
11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Booker T.
DozierRecreational Complex.
Representatives from colleges including
Fisk University, Kentucky State University and
Central StateUniversity, among several others.
There will also be workshops and financial
information about college funding.

Friends host used book sale
The Friends of the William P. Faust Library
of Westland will host a used book sale from 10
a.m. until 4 p.m. Sept. 23-24 and from noon
until 3 p.m. Sunday Sept. 25, at the facility,
6123Central CityParkway.
Hardcover fiction books are priced at $1,
buy two get one free and hardcover non-fiction
books , DVDs and CDs are priced at $1. Large
paperbacks are 50 cents and small paperbacks
and videos, cassettes and records are50 cents,.
Sunday is bag day, when a full bag of books
is priced at $4.
Friends of the Library fund all programs at
the facility.

Middlebelt Baptist Church will be the site
of a clothing giveaway from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Greater Works Deliverance Ministries will

Annual Eveningwith Jean set
The Adopt-A-Child-Size committee of the
Smith Chapel Church will present the 11th

Jean Maura, an Inkster native, has led the
effort to raise funds for clothing for Inkster
school children.
Maura will return from Georgia to present
the program of poetry, The Judgment Day skit,
a liturgical Dan Expressions and a perform-
ance by the InksterHighSchool choir.

State Rep. Dian Slavens (D-Canton) will

TownHall meeting planned
A city wide Town Hall meeting in planned
by the Inkster TaskForce from6-8 p.m. Sept. 29
at the recreational complex, 2025 Middlebelt
Road.
The topic of the evening is under aged
drinking and there will be a youth panel dis-
cussion of the subject and a community ques-
tion and answer period.
Refreshments will be served and the meet-
ing is open to the public at no cost.
Youth from 12-24 are asked to be prepared
with ideas to help prevent under aged drink-
ing and the best idea will receive a free gift
card.

The Plymouth Community Chamber of
Commerce, in a joint effort with the Friends of
the Penn, announce the 6th Annual PENN-
Taste-Tic Downtown Plymouth Restaurant
Crawl from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28.
"Crawlers" can walk around downtown
Plymouth enjoying samples and treats from
many of their favorite Plymouth restaurants
and sweet shops.
This year, participants include: Box Bar;

FunRaising planned by foundation
The Wayne Parks and Recreation

members have planned a FunRaising Golf

The admission is $75 per golfer and all pro-
ceeds will be used to renovate and maintain
theAtwoodPark tennis courts.
