Hearing in assault case
scheduled for tomorrow
Homecoming date is changed
Two women chargedwith threatening
an Inkster co-worker in a restaurant
parking lot Aug. 14 will face a prelimi-
nary hearing at the 35thDistrict Court in
Plymouth tomorrow.
The charges against Antoinette Hope
Boone, 37, of Canton Township include
two counts of felonious assault and one
count each of carrying a concealed
weapon and felony firearm. Her cousin,
Alyah Chaurice Tooson-Boone, 19, of
Inkster, faces a single charge of felonious
assault, according to court records.
The charges stem from an incident
reported to Canton Police at about 11:30
p.m. Sept. 12 by a 30-year-old Inkster
womanwho said the pair threatenedher
with a gun and a chain outside the
McDonald's restaurant near Michigan
Avenue andLotzRoad inCanton.
The woman told the responding
police officers that the pair, in a car
along with a man who was not charged
in the incident, had been harassing her,
swerving into her lane, throwing objects
at her car and yelling at her as she drove
her vehicle down Michigan Avenue on
her way home from work in Ypsilanti.
She told officers that Boone was a co-
worker with whom she had issues previ-
ously, including slashed tires on her
vehicle. She said she drove into the
McDonald's parking lot where shewas to
meet a friend and the other women fol-
lowed.
Thewoman told officers she retrieved
a baseball bat from her car to protect
herself. She told officers that Boone
threatened her with a .40 caliber hand-
gun and that Tooson-Boone made
threats with a chain. The friend of the
alleged victim told police that she, too,
had been threatened by Boone and
Tooson-Boone.
The Inkster woman told police that
she lives in fear of Boonewhowas previ-
ously involved in a romantic relation-
ship with a man she is now dating and
that all three work for the same employ-
er.
No shots were fired during the alter-
cation and police confiscated both a .40
caliber handgun and a chain at the
scene. Boone and Tooson-Boone were
arrested and arraigned Aug. 21 before
35th District Court Judge James Plakas
who ordered the pair jailed on $20,000
or 10 percent bonds.
The homecoming parade and high
school football game in Northville has
been rescheduled.
In a prepared statement, district offi-
cials said that the festivities this year will
begin with the homecoming parade at 6
p.m. Friday, Oct. 10 followed by the home-
coming football game at 7 p.m. at Tom
Holzer FordField.
The Northville Mustangs will play
against the Novi Wildcats at the field,
located on Eight Mile Road across from
Hillside Middle School, just west of
AmermanElementary School.
The homecoming dancewill take place
at 7 p.m. Oct. 11 at Northville High
Schools following Homecoming Spirit
Week activities at the school Oct. 6-11.
District officials said the change was
made from the original Oct. 3-4 date in
recognition of theYomKippur holiday.
“We apologize for any inconvenience
this change in Homecoming dates may
cause for students, families, staff and
community members. In the future, rest
assured that we will be more proactive in
reviewing calendar conflicts prior to set-
ting dates for special events such as
Homecoming,” officials said in the pre-
pared release.
“We appreciate your understanding as
we seek to recognize the diversity of our
Northville school community and ensure
all members have the opportunity to
enjoy this year's Homecoming celebra-
tions.”
