Youths bowl for free

The Westland Youth Assistance Program is hosting free summer bowling for those between the ages of 10 and 16 from 6-8:30 p.m. every Friday until Aug. 12 at Westland Bowl.

The first 80 Westland youths to register will be accepted in the limitedprogram. WestlandBowl is located at 5940N. Wayne Road.

The daywill beginwith a song service and include Bible study, worship, lunch, nature games for all ages, drumming and music of praise, choirs, mimes and instrumental per-formances.

Senior Alliance hosts golf outing

The Senior Alliance will host the 11th

annual 2011Golf Classic startingwith a 9 a.m. shotgun start July 29 at Woodlands of Van BurenGolf Course.

The Senior Alliance 2011 Golf Classic sup-ports the Area Agency on Aging 1-C, which in turn aids thousands of seniors and caregivers throughout the area with the Meals-on-Wheels program, the Holiday Meals-on-Wheels program, information and assistance and many other services critical for seniors. Ninety-three cents of every dollar raised from this event will go directly to senior serv-ices.

Players have the opportunity to win raffle prizes, enjoy meals and vie for the "Ficano Cup" (the winning foursome is presented with this trophy each year). Sponsorships are still available.

CommunityHealth Fair set

Abundance of Joy Fellowship Church and Leah Chapter 43 Order of the Eastern Star are sponsoring a Community Health Fair from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. July 30 at 29365 Cherry Hill Road, near Middlebelt, in Inkster.

There will be free health screenings and information from participants including Oakwood Health Systems, the Inkster Fire Department, Inkster Senior Services, The Children's Center and others.

Entertainment will include live jazz, gospel and comedy performances.

The event is free and open to the public. Several vendors offering food, beverages and craftswill be on site.

70th Jones Reunion planned

The 70th Annual Jones Subdivision Festival and Reunion will take place at the T.J. Coleman Community Center in Romulus July 29-31.

The event will include a Meet and Greet event from5-9 p.m. Friday, July 29. Therewill also be a community talent show at 5 p.m. and games and refreshments.

Disc jockey Roy Williams will be on hand for entertainment the entireweekend. The reunionwill continue fromnoon until

9 p.m. on Saturday with games and music and from 2-8 p.m. Sunday there will be a gospel celebration featuring church choirs and other guests.

The Concours d'Elegance of America will be open to the public from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. this Sunday only at The Inn at St. John's at Five Mile and Sheldon roads in Plymouth. Admission to the event is $25 per person and tickets are available at Station 885 restaurant on Starkweather Street and Dearborn Jewelers, or at the event.
