Summer ReadingCarnival set
The Summer Reading program at the
Romulus Public Library will begin with a car-
nival planned from5-7 p.m. Monday, June 23.
There will be games, a craft table, face
painting andmore.
Visitors should go to the registration table
and pick up a passport to reading and com-
plete the form before 6:30 p.m. to be entered
intoa prize raffle.
Prizes include lunch at the police station,
fire stationor lunchwith themayor.
All ages arewelcome.

Camp 911 set
Huron Valley Ambulance Camp 9-1-1 will
take place from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. June 26
and 27 at thePlymouthCultural Center.
The camp is a free, interactive 2-day expe-
rience for 8 to 12 year-olds. During the camp,
Emergency Medical Technicians and
Paramedics serve as Camp 9-1-1 counselors to
guide campers through a variety of interactive
experiences.

Ghosts appear in park
Meet and greet some of the characters from
Plymouth's past during the Plymouth
Historical Museum "Ghosts of Plymouth" walk,
at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 29. Hear the tales of
early Plymouth from the characters them-
selves, such as Phil Markham (inventor of the
Markham Air Rifle), his mistress Blanche
Shortman, and his spurned wife, Carrie, color-
ful physician Dr. Luther Peck and George
Starkweather, the first white male born in
PlymouthTownship.
The walk circles Kellogg Park in downtown
Plymouth and lasts about 90 minutes.
Participants should meet at the fountain in
Kellogg Park. Tickets are $10 per person ($5
for children under 10) in advance or $15 ($10
for children under 10) at the park and can be
purchased at the museum website or at the
Plymouth Historical Museum, 155 S. Main St.,

CelebrateHarry Potter's birthday
A craft evening for adult fans of Harry
Potter will celebrate the young wizard's birth-
day from 7-8:30 p.m. July 29 at the Plymouth
District Library.
Planned for the evening are the construc-
tion of a magic wand, a Harry Potter mobile
device cover or finger puppets, chocolate frogs
or bracelets inhouse colors.

Youth golf competion set
Young golf enthusiasts ages 7-15 will have
the opportunity to participate in a local quali-
fier for the 2015 Drive, Chip and Putt
Championship at Pheasant Run Golf Club in
CantonTownship July 1.

will be grouped based on their age as of the
championship final onApril 5, 2015.

Yard sale and antique appraisals
to benefit Bellevillemuseum
The Belleville Are Museum and Historical
Society will host a Yard Sale fromnoon until 7
p.m. July 17. Director Katie Dallos said that
shoppers will find treasures among the tables
of antiques and collectibles from the museum
collections anddonations of area residents.
The same day, auctioneer and appraiser
Doug Dalton will be on had to offer appraisals
from 2-6 p.m. Admission for the first appraisal
is $10 and each additional item can be
appraised for $5.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the
Don Keene Memorial Fund which assists with
museumand society programs.

Online safety advice offered
Representatives from the Senior Brigade
will discuss online safety at a meeting set to
begin at 6 p.m. July 21 at the Leanna Hicks
Inkster PublicLibrary.
Advisors will discuss email safety tips, how
to recognize and avoid online scams, basic
computer security measures, helpful online
resources and general online safety tips.
Themeeting is open to the public and there
is no admittance fee.
The library is located at 2005 Inkster Road
in Inkster.
Plymouth chamber sets golf outing
More than 101 players have already signed
on to play in the annual Plymouth Chamber of
Commerce Golf Outing July 21 at the Golden
Fox Course. The course was designed by
Arthur Hills to be reminiscent of the Scottish
seaside courses.
The event is a scramble that will include
lunch, dinner, plus open bar throughout the
day and on the course. All company foursomes
receive a sign on the course. Registration
begins at 9:30 a.m., with tee-off at 11 a.m. Box
lunches will be available in the club house or
to take on the course. The cost is $205 per
golfer or $820 per foursome.
The event includes the annual auctions and
donations are still being sought. Donations
from large to small items and gift certificates
are accepted and every donor gets individual
recognition. Items for the auction need to be
receivedby July 16.

KidsHistory Kamp set
The Plymouth Historical Museum is plan-
ning the third annual History Kids Kamp from
10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, July 26. Children
can experience aspects of the Civil War by
recreating what life was like during the war,
including dressing in period clothing, getting
their picture taken, as well as a chore race
consisting of old-fashioned tasks from themid-
1800s. There will also be a scavenger hunt,
which will entertain and educate while they
search for clues to solve a puzzle. Childrenwill
be able to chat with Civil War soldier reenac-
tors who can answer questions, demonstrate
marching, and much more. The boys will be
given the opportunity to "enlist" in the army.
Tickets purchased by July 18 are $35 per
child; after that date tickets are $40; alterna-
tively, the purchase of a newor renewedDaisy
membership to the Plymouth Historical
Museum (value $50) will allow one child to
attend for free. The target age for children is 6
to 12 years old; however, children under 8 will
need to be accompaniedby an adult.

Concours d'Elegance returns
The Concours d'Elegance will return to St.
John's in Plymouth Township on Sunday, July
27.
This is the 36th year for the exhibition of
world-class collectors' automobiles. One fea-
tured class this year, the Evolution of the
Sports Car, will feature the 1919 Paige 6-66
Daytona Speedster Prototype and the first
Nash-Healey Roadster, regarded as the first
trueAmerican sports car.

Soirée set in Belleville
The Belleville Area Council For The
Arts (BACA) will be presenting the
Second Annual Garden Soirée (formerly
Bach's Wine Garden Party) from 6-9 p.m.
Friday, June 20.
The event, a fundraiser for the Music
Lakeside Summer Concert Series, will
offer patrons hors d'oeuvres, cocktails,
and live music in two exquisite private
gardens.
Jazz favorites will be performed by
The Sarah D'Angelo Trio featuring the
voice of Belleville's own Sarah D'Angelo
with Paul Keller on bass and Duncan
McMillan on piano. The Island Guys
will be providing a tropical feel with
their unique blend of Calypso and
Reggae melodies complete with steel
drums.
