ORTHVILLE
- P
LYMOUTH
Aunt and boyfriend charged in abuse of baby
The aunt of the 2-year-old brutal-
ly abused in Northville Township
last week has also been charged in
the incident.
According to police reports,
Olivia Suzanne Kwiatkowski, 18,
was charged with Failure to Report
Child Abuse by the Wayne County
Prosecutors Office last Thursday.
Police allege that Kwiatkowski, the
aunt of the victim, was babysitting
the child with Dylan Dunlap in
Northville when the abuse took
place. Police said that Kwiatkowski
was aware of the abuse and that she
observed the injuries on the child
and did not notify police of the
abuse.
Dunlap, 19, a Northville resident,
was charged with Torture, which
carries a sentence up to life or any
term of years, Assault with Intent to
do Great Bodily Harm, a 10-year
felony, Child Abuse-First Degree, a
15-year felony andAssault or Assault
andBattery, a 93-daymisdemeanor.
Prosecutors believe that on May
6, at an apartment located in the
19400 block of Northridge Drive,
Dunlap was entrusted with the care
of Kwiatkowski's 23-month old
nephew while she went to the store.
It is further alleged that he struck
the childmultiple times on the head,
torso and legs, and held a cigarette
lighter to the child's skin causing
severe burns on his chest, palm,
thumb andwrist.
Northville Township Director of
Public Safety John Werth said that
the injuries to the toddler were
severe and that this was the worst
case of child abuse he had seen in
his career. Kwiatkowski reportedly
called police on Monday and when
officers responded it was apparent
that the child had been severely
abused. The toddler was immediate-
ly transported to an area hospital by
Northville
Township
Fire
Department responders where he is
recovering fromthe injuries.
Dunlap was arraigned in 35th
District Court in Plymouth and
received a $1million bond from
Judge Ron Lowe. He remains in the
Wayne County Jail. His preliminary
court examination on the charges is
set for tomorrow at the 35th District
Court.

Student radio auction is planned
Listeners will have some interesting
choices during the 25th annual radio auc-
tion at the student-run Plymouth Canton
88.1 this Saturday.
Among the wide array of items up for bid
from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. will be a guitar auto-
graphedby the rock bandForeigner.
88.1 The Park will broadcast the auction
and listeners will be able to bid on items
donated by local businesses, with new items
available every half-hour. There will be
great items to bid on, including autographed
memorabilia, restaurant gift cards, and
services from local businesses. A Dream
Board withmore unique items will be avail-
able for bidding all day.
Last year, the station raised more than
$12,000 and this year they have set a goal of
$13,000. Local businesses and residents still
have time to support the student radio sta-
tion by donating items. Businesses that
donate can benefit from the exposure they
will receive on 88.1 The Park. Most impor-
tantly, they will be helping out a program
that has served the Plymouth-Canton com-
munity for 41 years, according to advisor
Bill Keith.
Anyone with an idea for the auction can
contact the station at (734) 416-7732.

flyer can also contact the station. Businesses
or individuals interested in sponsoring a
half-hour or hour of the auction can e-mail
Keith at bill.keith@pccsmail.net.
