Reverend Talley thanked the Council for their dedication to the City of Romulus.
8. Unfinished Business:
Mayor Burcroff informed Council that in regards to the “no action” item from the last Council meeting, City
Attorney, Steve Hitchcock, is going back to the vendor (RedGuard Fire & Security Company) to ask if they are
willing to comply with the City’s request; Mayor hopes to have an answer sometime this week

10. Communication:
Councilman Wadsworth gave a reminder about the upcoming fundraisers in support of the Romulus Animal
Shelter – Pucks for Pets and Romulus Bowl-A-Thon. Councilwoman Abdo announced the RAC’s ten-year-old
birthday party on Sunday, March 18, 2018. There will be a bounce house, a disc jockey over the pool, free games,
fitness classes and contests. Admission is free for members and $5.00 for non-members. Councilwoman Talley
gave a reminder of the Good Friday Walk on March 30, 2018.

CITY OF ROMULUS
NOXIOUS WEED NOTICE TO THE
PROPERTY OWNERS IN THE
CITY OF ROMULUS
In accordance with P.A. 359 of 1941, as amended and Chapter 34, Article 3, of the Romulus Code
of Ordinances it shall be the duty of all owners of lands on which noxious weeds are found grow-
ing, to destroy the same before they reach a seed bearing stage and to prevent such weeds from
becoming a detriment to public health.
If any such owner, agent or occupant of such land shall refuse to destroy such noxious weeds or
cause them to be destroyed, it shall be the duty of the Noxious Weed Commissioner to enter upon
such land and destroy such noxious weeds.
Nothing in this notice shall apply to weeds in fields devoted to growing any small grain crop such
as wheat, oats, barley or rye.
All weeds not cut by May 1, 2018 will be cut by the City and the owner of the property will be
charged with the cost. Subsequent violations will result in additional cuttings and will be done as
often as necessary when vegetation reaches eight (8) inches in height and/or seed bearing stage.
Any expense incurred in such destruction shall be paid by the owner or owners of such land and the
city shall have a lien against such land for such expense. Any owner who shall refuse to destroy
such noxious weeds shall also be subject to a fine that is set at the courts discretion.
All refuse and debris on the given owners property will be removed by the City at the owners'
expense.

NOTICE TO CUT NOXIOUS WEEDS
CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF PLYMOUTH
To the owner or occupant or any person or persons, firm or corporation having charge of any land in the Charter Township of
Plymouth:
Notice is hereby given that all noxious weeds growing on any land in the Charter Township of Plymouth, Wayne County,
Michigan, must be cut and destroyed on or before the 20th day of April, A.D., 2017. And every owner, occupant, or person hav-
ing charge of any such land must notify the Township that such weeds have been destroyed within three days of such cutting.
Any person failing to comply with this notice on or before the date mentioned shall be liable for the imposition of the penalties
set forth in Ordinance Number 64, of the Charter Township of Plymouth, Wayne County, Michigan, and shall be liable for all
expenses incurred by the Township in destroying said noxious weeds, which expenses, if unpaid by the owner or to the occupant,
shall be spread against the property on the next County and School Tax Roll collection of such expenses. The township may
notify by certified mail with return receipt requested, the owner, agent, or occupant, as shown on the current County and School
Tax Roll, of any lands on which such noxious weeds are found growing. Such notice shall contain the methods of treating and
eradicating such noxious weeds and a summary of the provisions of this section. Failure of the township to give such notice shall
not, however, constitute a defense to any action to enforce the payment of any penalty provided in this article or any debt creat-
ed under this article.

Northville Township Police Officer Zachary
Lewis was officially sworn in by Deputy Clerk
Katie Anderson during a ceremony witnessed
by members of his family, friends and township
employees last week.
The crowd gathered at Northville Township
Hall March 26 when Public Safety Director
Todd Mutchler welcomed Lewis as the newest
member of the Northville Township
Department of Public Safety.
“Today, you join a purpose-driven, values-
led, results-oriented department of public safe-
ty where great things are happening,” Mutchler
said.
Following the swearing in, Lewis had the
opportunity to introduce himself to the audi-
ence who had the opportunity to ask questions
of the newly-hired officer. Assistant Township
Manager Debra Wilhelm asked Lewis who his
mentorwas.
“My father, I have always looked up to him,”
Lewis responded. Lewis' father is also in law
enforcement serving as trooper with the
MichiganStatePolice.
Lewis comes to Northville Township having
nearly one year of lawenforcement experience.
Lewis grew up in Petoskey, attended Madonna
University where he earned a Bachelor of
Science degree, and graduated from the Wayne
CountyRegional PoliceAcademy inMay, 2017.
An Inkster man faces life in
prison if convicted of the murder
of his girlfriend last week.
Inkster police were dis-
patched at about 6:15 a.m. March
29 to an apartment on Cherry
Valley Drive following reports of
a domestic disturbance.
Jerome Duckwyler, 35, is now
chargedwith first degreemurder
and felony firearm offenses in
the death of his girlfriend
Michelle Nicole Briscoe, 36,
according to the office of Wayne
CountyProsecutorKymWorthy.
Police reports indicate that
the responding officers entered
the couple's apartment through
an unlocked door when there
was no response to their repeat-
ed knocking. Officers discovered
the deceased body of Briscoe
who had suffered apparent gun-
shot wounds to the head and
shoulder area.
Neighbors subsequently inter-
viewed by officers said they
heard loud noises coming from
the apartment of the couple.
They said that Duckwyler
brought his 4-year-old son to
their apartment asking them to
care for the child. The witnesses
said that Duckwyler told them
that he and his girlfriend were
fighting and asked them to call
911.
Officers from the Inkster
police and troopers from
Michigan State Police responded
to the scene.
Witnesses told officers that
after asking them to care for the
child, the suspect then left the
apartment complex. A short time
after Michigan State Police
detectives arrived on scene they
learned the suspect had turned
himself in at the Detroit Police
Department 9th Precinct. The
suspect was then taken into cus-
tody and was transported to the
Inkster Police Department for an
interview.
Following that interview,
Duckwyler was arrested by
Inkster police and was arraigned
on the charges on March 31 in
34th District Court in Romulus.
He was remanded to police cus-
tody awaiting his next court
appearance set for April 11.
The
Inkster
Police
Department will continue to host
Coffee With A Cop at 10 a.m. the
second Tuesday of each month
at ApplewoodConey Island.
There is no agenda or speech-
es, just an opportunity to enjoy a
cup of coffee with local police
officers, ask questions, voice con-
cerns and get to know the neigh-
borhood officers.

The next session is set for
April 10.
Free cooking
class planned
A class in healthy cooking is
planned from 3-6 p.m. Sunday,
April 22 at Sharon SDA Church
in Inkster.
Adventist
Community
Services is sponsoring the class,
titled Fast Food Alternatives.
Meatless vegan burgers, yacc
fries, cilantro dipping sauce and
a fruit smoothie milk shake will
be prepared as part of the live
cooking demonstration.
The event is free and open to
the public although pre-registra-
tion is requiredbyApril 15.

New Northville Township Police Ofc. Zachary
Lewis was sworn in at township hall March
26.
Inkster residents have the opportunity
to have their tax returns prepared for free
through the Wayne County Asset Building
Coalition.
Tax preparation for electronic filing
will be available from 6-9 p.m. Mondays
and Wednesday through April 12 at St.
Clements Episcopal Church, 4300
Harrison, Inkster.
