Historic calendars for sale
The 2017 Belleville Area Historical
Society calendar is now available and has
beendiscounted to $5.
The calendars can be purchased at sev-
eral tri-community locations including,
Belleville Area Museum, Belleville Area
Chamber of Commerce, Belleville City
Hall, Garden Fantasy on Main, Sumpter
Ace Hardware, Sumpter Township, and
the Van Buren Township Hall Treasurer's
office.

Art exhibit continues
The Northville Art House is presenting
the 11th Annual Member Exhibition, fea-
turing original works in all mediums,
including painting, drawing, photography,
sculpture, jewelry, clay, and mixed media.
The exhibition showcases the talents of
more than 60 member artists of the
Northville Art House as well as recognizes
the people who support the growth and
creativity of the arts in the community.
Applications are being accepted for
memberships to be considered for future
Northville Art House member exhibitions
and events as well as other benefits.

The exhibition continues through
Saturday, March 25 during Art House

Patriotic volunteers sought
Plymouth Township officials are seek-
ing volunteers to lead the Pledge of
Allegiance at the start of the regular meet-
ings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of
themonth at townshiphall.
Suggested qualifications include being
an active duty or retired military service-
man or woman, a member of a service or
Scouting organization, a retired first
responder, member of a student govern-
ment organization or a patriotic citizen.

Grief programunder way
A grief-recovery seminar and support
group will meet at Romulus Wesleyan
Church inRomulus at 6 p.m. onThursdays
through May 18. The church is located at

GriefShare features nationally recog-
nized experts on grief and recovery topics.
The 13 video sessions include "Effects of
Grief," "When Your Spouse Dies," "Your
Family and Grief," "Stuck in Grief," and
more. Attend any or all sessions. A $15 reg-
istration fee will include a workbook/jour-
nal andweekly handouts.

Museumhosts quilt show
The 21st Annual Quilt Show at the
Belleville Are Museum presented in coop-
eration with the Western Wayne County
Quilting Guild, will take place during the
entire month of March which has been
declaredNational QuiltingMonth.
The show theme this year is Quilts
Around the World and is open to quilters
throughout the area. The exhibition will
be open from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and
fromnoon until 4 p.m. Wednesday through
Saturdays throughMarch 31.
A Viewer's Choice winner will be
announced at the end of the month and
will be awarded a gift basket filled with
assorted quilting supplies. Throughout
the month, the museum will feature "Bed
Turnings," quilting demonstrations, and a
Girl Scouts' SewingWorkshop.

Church hosts fish fries
St. Mary Catholic Church in Wayne is
hosting Lenten Fish Fries again this year.
Theweekly FishFries will take place from
4-7 p.m. beginning Friday, March 3. The
Friday meals will be served for seven
weeks through weeks through Good
Friday, April 14.
Dinners are $7 or $10 and include a
choice of fried or baked fish, shrimp din-
ner or Mac-N-Cheese. Each meal comes
with French fries or baked potato, cole
slaw, roll and lemonade, water or coffee.
Desserts and pop are available for an
additional charge. Take outs are available.

Buddy Up programbegins
Westland will begin the fifth year of the
8-week "Buddy Up" program at 7 p.m.
March 3 in the banquet room at city hall
where Buddy Shuh, a former contestant
on NBC's The Biggest Loser, will speak
about the program.
The program will include the six-week
triathlon where participants bike, run and
swim. This year, participants will be
offered an optional weight loss challenge
with prizes for the three individuals who
lose themost weight.
Registration is limited to the first 250
paid registrants and is available at
. The fee is $30
which includes a tee shirt and an informa-
tional binder. This year, participants can
compete for the top weight loss prize for
an extra $10. Doorswill open at city hall at
6 p.m. March 3 and the programwill begin
at 7 p.m.
Rock 'n' roll concert set
Steve King & The Dittilies will perform
a concert of rock 'n' roll music at 8 p.m.
Saturday, March 4 at The Village Theater
at CherryHill.
The concert is a benefit for the
Partnership for the Arts and Humanities
and a 7 p.m. welcome reception will pre-
cede the concert.

Taste Fest planned inBelleville
The Belleville Area Council for the Arts
(BACA) will host a Beer and Wine Taste
Fest from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, March 4 at
BYC, 831 E. Huron River Dr., Belleville,
48111.
Tickets are priced at $35 if purchased
prior to the event or $40 at the door. The
Ticket price includes admission, 10 tasting
tickets, entertainment and appetizers from
theTwistedRooster.
The event will also feature a silent auc-
tion and live entertainment by Village
Strings.
Eight local breweries, three local
wineries and two local distillerswill offer
craft beers, wines and spirits.

The event is a fundraiser for the BACA

Rock, mineral and fossils for sale
An auction of rocks, minerals and fos-
sils hosted by Roamin' Rock and Mineral
Club is planned from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
March 4 and from noon until 5 p.m. March
5.
The two-day event includes a silent
auction each hour and a verbal auction of
commercially obtained minerals, fossils,
crystals and jewelry making materials
from all over the world. There is a sepa-
rate children's area featuring low-priced
rocks.
Auction proceeds will benefit a scholar-
ship fund at Schoolcraft College.
Admission andparking are free.

Philharmonic celebrates Irishmusic
The Michigan Philharmonic will pres-
ent A Touch of the Irish at 2 p.m. March 5

Free health screenings will take place
from 10:30 until 11 a.m. Wednesday March
8, followed by discussions about brain
health during a program at the Dozier
Recreational complex, 2025 Middlebelt
