Baseball league seeks players

DrugAwareness Expo set
The Plymouth Elks club has planned a
Drug Awareness Expos and Masonic Child
Finder at their lodge at 41700East AnnArbor
Road in Plymouth from noon until 5 p.m.
March 3.
No registration is necessary and the event
is open to the public at no cost.
The event is taking place at the same time
as the Savage Family Fund Raiser and food
will be available.

Youth Theater registration under way
Registration is under way for the City of
Wayne Parks and Recreation Stage IV Youth
Theatre Spring Session, Rock Around the
Block.
The cost is $115 for residents and $125 for
non-residents. Rehearsals will take place
from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturdays and
the performances are planned for May 18
and 19. Students should bring their own
lunch and a snack for all sessions. The per-
formance and all rehearsals will take place
at theWayne Activity and Banquet Center on
Sims Street, formally the Wayne Senior
Center.
Payment must be made in full at the time
of registration which is available at the
Wayne Community Center from 8 a.m. until 7
p.m. during the week and from10 a.m. until 6
p.m. onweekends.

Russian Fireworks Saturday
The Philharmonic closes the regular sea-
son of concerts at 7:30 p.m.Saturday, March 3
with a concert featuring the big, bold and
brassy, SymphonyNo.5 by Shostakovich.
The concert will take place at The Village
Theater at Cherry Hill, 50400 Cherry Hill
Road in Canton. There will be a pre-concert
reception from6-7 p.m.

Free tax help for seniors offered
The City of Wayne Senior Services will
offer the tax assistance through the
American Association of Retired Persons.
The programis free to anyonewho files basic
tax forms and all returns will be e-filed the
day of preparation.
Taxes will be prepared each Wednesday
during February and March by appointment

Goodfellows raffle continues
The Wayne Goodfellows Progressive
Raffle continues at 9:30 p.m. every Thursday
at the Village Bar on Michigan Avenue in
downtownWayne.
Tickets are only $1 and proceeds help
fund the Goodfellows holiday efforts to help
the less fortunate during theholidays..
The jackpot is currentlymore than $1,000.
Church serves fish dinners
St. Aloysius Catholic Churchwill serve all-
you-can-eat fish dinners from 4:30 until 7
p.m. on Fridays during Lent through March
30.
Dinners include fried fish, macaroni and
cheese, seasoned potatoes or French fires,
green beans, Cole slaw, dinner roll, dessert
and a beverage.
The price for adult meals is $8. Meals for
children 10 and younger are $4 and those
younger than 3 eat at no cost with the pur-
chase of an adult meal. Carry out dinners ar
prices at $8.

Oldest profession on stage
The Spotlight Still Got It Players will pres-
ent "The Oldest Profession" by Paula Vogel
March 1-4 at the Biltmore Studio in the

March 2 and 3 and at 2 p.m. March 4.

Bricks 4 Kidz Classes offered
Plymouth Department of Recreation will
offer this hands-on class where students will
design and build machines, simple inven-
tions and other constructions using Lego®
bricks. While exploring engineering, archi-
tecture and physics, students will develop
problemsolving and critical thinking skills.
The hour-long classes fro ages 6-10 will
take place from 5:15-6:15 p.m. on Thursdays
throughApril 19.
The fee is $116 or $101 for Plymouth resi-
dents. The class fee includes all material
fees.

Snowman photos sought
The City of Plymouth Recreation
Department is accepting entries into the
Snowman Photo Contest until 4:30 p.m.
tomorrow, March 2. Judging will take place
the week of March 5 and the winner
announcedMarch 12.
Children are encouraged to build a snow-
man, dress him up and take a photo to email
to lbosniuk@ci.plymouth.mi.us. Photos can
also be mailed to the Recreation

Plymouth bridal showplanned
Dearborn Jewelers of Plymouth will be
the site of a Spring Bridal Trunk Show from
10 a.m. until 5 p.m. March 3. The free event is
designed for consumers in the wedding mar-
ket to receive information for planning their
wedding and to promote "buy local".
Dearborn Jewelers will feature a collec-
tion of engagement and wedding rings as
well as attendants' gifts. They have also invit-
ed Biba Design Jewelry to unveil her newest
collection of bridal jewelry as well as her
spring and summer collections.
Also featured will be bridesmaid dresses
fromBellaMiaDressedUp. Magnolia, Fresh
Flower Market will be showing bridal bou-
quets and centerpieces while Special
Moments Photography will be on hand with
their portfolio of wedding photos. Spa Agio
will provide information about pampering
services available and Fiamma Grille will be
serving appetizers and discuss rehearsal din-
ner and reception ideas

Dream on
Spotlight on Youth presents a different spin on the Bard's tale with their musical version
of “A Midsummer Night's Dream” at 7 p.m. March 8, 9 and at both 2 and 7 p.m. March
10. While staying true to the original Shakespeare classic, author Mary Gray has updat-
ed and abridged the original with modern day language and action. She has also
added delightful songs to enhance the original adding to the comedic situations and
ever present love struggles. The Spotlight on Youth cast features more than 30 actors
from Plymouth, Canton, Novi, Belleville, Westland, South Lyon and Dearborn Heights.
The production will take to the stage at Village Theater at Cherry Hill, 50400 Cherry Hill
