Church planningmeeting set
Grace Community Church, a new congre-
gation, is planning a pre-view service at 11
a.m. this Sunday at Romulus Progressive
Hall, 11580Ozga inRomulus.
The pastor says the goal of the new
church is to "be a place where people from
all backgrounds feel safe to dream again,
find encouragement for their dreams and
get support for taking the next steps in living
out their dreams..
A launch service is planned for 11 a.m.
March 31 at the same location.

Donations are being sought by friends

Senior bingo scheduled
Bingo, which improves memory and
offers senior a chance to win money, is

Reading programunder way
The Adult Winter Reading Program at
the Romulus Library, Hot Reads for Cold
Nights, is currently under way and will con-
tinueuntilMarch 31.
For every book read, participants will be
entered into a weekly drawing for prizes.

AfricanAmerican art is topic
The lives and times of African American
artists from the late 19th century to the pres-
ent day will be the topic of a 7 p.m. Feb. 25

The speaker will be a representative of
theDetroit Institute of Arts.

Dr. Seuss' birthday celebrated
Sign up is now under way for the
Romulus Library Dr. Seuss Birthday
Programplanned for 6 p.m. Feb. 26.
Favorite Dr. Seuss stories will be shared -
- The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham
andDaisy-HeadMayzie.
Participants can make a Daisy Head
Mayzie head band and Cat in the Hat cup.
Games include One Fish, Two Fish, Red
Fish, Blue Fish fishing game, Pin theHat on
the Cat and guests can create a Cat in the
Hat snack.

Snowman contest under way
Plymouth residents can now enter the
annual snowman photo contest sponsored
by the parks and recreationdepartment.
To enter, participants should build a
snowman, dress him up, and take a picture,
then drop-off the picture at the City of
Plymouth Recreation Office or email it to
Lauren at lobsniuk@ci.plymouth.mi.us
[mailto:lobsniuk@ci.plymouth.mi.us].
Photos must be received, along with the
child's name, address, phone number and
email address of the person submitting the
picture before 4:30 p.m. March 1.
Judging will take place the week of
March 4 and the winner will be announced
March 11.

Tax assistance is available by appoint-
ment only every Wednesday through April 3
at theWayne Community Center, 4635 Howe
Road inWayne.
No age or residency restriction applies.
Clientsmust file basic/simple forms only
to have preparations done at this site. All

Computer classes offered
Computer classes are now being offered
at theRomulus Library.
All classes free of charge. Register by

There are often have wait lists for com-
puter classes so students are asked to notify
the library when they are unable to attend
so that another person can take advantage
of the class.

The Romulus Library hosts book discus-
sions from7-8 p.m. on the secondMonday of
each month. Book discussions are free and
open to all, age 18 andup.

Library book sale set
The Friends of the William P. Faust
Public Library of Westland will host a sale
of used books, DVDs and CDs Feb. 21
through 23 at the library, 6123 Central City
parkway.
Sale hours are 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Feb. 21
and 22 and from10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Feb. 23.
Bag Day, when shoppers can fill a bag
with books for $4 will take lace on Saturday,
Feb. 23.
Hard cover fiction and biographies will
be sold as buy one, get one free and small
paperback books are priced at 10 cents.
A preview sale for member of the
Friends group will take place from 3-6 p.m.
Feb. 20.

Fish fries planned
First United Methodist Church of Wayne
will host Friday Fish Fries from 4: 30 -7 p.m.
untilMarch 22.
Fish dinner includes baked or fried fish,
baked potato or French fries, vegetable,
Cole slaw and a roll. Children's meals are
also available, with nuggets or one piece of
fish, French fries, vegetable slaw and a roll.
Cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children.
Home made pies are also available for $1 a
slice.
The church is located at 3 Town Square,

office. The church is handicap accessible.

Shakespeare, abridged on stage
The Complete Works of William
Shakespeare (abridged) will be presented
by the Spotlight Players at the Village
Theater at Cherry Hill through Feb. 24.
The dizzying, affectionate mocking of the
world's best-known playwright takes place
at 8 p.m. Feb. 22 and 23 and also at 2 p.m.
Feb. 23 and 24.
The theater is located at 50400 Cherry
Hill Road in Canton Township. Tickets, $15
for adults and $13 for students and seniors

org Spotlight Players is the resident adult

Chamber hostsmorningwake up
Ken Miller of S.T.E.P (Services to
Enhance Potential) will welcome local busi-
ness people for coffee at Tried and True
Thrift Store in downtown Wayne at 8 a.m.
Feb. 22.
Tried and True is located at 35004 W.
Michigan Ave. and is owned by S.T.E.P. and
graduates of the program run the Thrift
Store. Wayne Chamber of Commercemem-
bers and business people are invited to see
the operation and have a morning cup of
coffee.
Lenten Fish Fries planned
St. Aloysius Catholic Church will host all-
you-can-eat fish fries from 4:30 until 7 p.m.
every Friday during Lent, beginning Feb. 22
and continuing on Feb. 22, March 1, 8, 15
and 22.
Dinners include fired fish, macaroni and
cheese, seasoned potatoes or French fries,
green beans, Cole slaw, dinner roll, dessert
and a beverage.
Adult dinners are $8, children 10 and
younger $4 and those younger than 3 eat
freewithan adult dinner purchase.
Carry out dinners are $8.

NorWayne Winterfest set
The Dorsey Community Center will be
the site of Winterfest activities from noon
until 2 p.m. Feb. 23 for children living in
theNorWayne area.
Activities will include storytelling,
crafts, face painting and balloon animals
made by a clown. The event is free and
will include hot dogs and soup, served by
Westland Mayor WilliamWild and former
mayors Charles Pickering and Thomas
Taylor.
There will be gift packs for children
with school supplies, toothbrushes, hot
chocolate and thermalmugs.
Adults can attend a Wayne
Metropolitan Community Services
Agency workshop while children are at
the event.
It is a free event with no pre-registra-
tion required.
